For the longest time, the Deadpool movie was just a dream for the fans and even Reynolds. However, that was until the test footage for the first movie leaked on the internet and fans left no means untouched to get the movie made.
The prime suspect behind the leak has been the Green Lantern star for years, but it was not until recently that he admitted to have played at least some role in the whole ordeal, that too when a literal polygraph machine was attached to him.
Ryan Reynolds Has Finally Taken Responsibility for the Deadpool 1 Test Footage Leak
Deadpool was in production purgatory for almost a decade before the superhero got the chance to showcase his brilliance on the big screen. Ryan Reynolds was actively involved in bringing the character to life since 2004. In 2009, the Merc with a Mouth had a cameo in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Reynolds was cast as the character and his role was expanded during the movie’s production. The solo movie went into developmental hell once again. It got a green light only after the test footage that Tim Miller had made was leaked online in late July 2014 and received rave reactions from fans.
There has been a lot of speculation regarding who was the messiah behind the leak and most fans have always beleived that it was Reynolds’ doing, but the actor himself has been coy every time he has been asked about it until recently.
During a Vanity Fair lie detector interview, Deadpool & Wolverine co-star Hugh Jackman asked Reynolds about it and despite his initial attempts to evade the question, the Free Guy actor had to answer it. He said:
I mean, I might have provided an assist.
The person conducting the test, Lou confirmed that it was the truth which surprised Jackman. Reynolds further said:
I was Scottie Pippen! I was just there doing my job and someone else gets all the credit.
For those unversed, Scottie Pippen is an NBA player who played on the Chicago Bulls team and often assisted Michael Jordan in making the team successful. This brings us to wonder that who played the role of Jordan in the leaking of the test footage, or maybe it was entirely Reynolds who has once again managed to throw the blame off his back.

During an interview on The Graham Norton Show, he also explained how the leak played a huge role in Fox’s agreement to finally make the movie. After all these years, what matters is that everyone won.
