List’s breakthrough came when she played the role of Emma Ross in the Disney Channel series, Jessie. However, Jessie isn’t the only movie that made people recognize her. Created by Hayden Schlossberg, Jon Hurwitz and Josh Heald, Cobra Kai also served List with worldwide recognition. Interestingly, the 26-year-old was initially doubtful that she would ever get a role in the comedy-drama series.
Peyton List Was Surprised She Landed the Cobra Kai Role She Auditioned For
Winner of the Young Artist Award in 2013 for Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, Peyton List had some unexpected luck to her side when she auditioned for Cobra Kai. The actress herself was surprised after she got the contract to play a role in the 2018 American martial arts comedy-drama television series. The series is a sequel to Robert Mark Kamen’s The Karate Kid films.
People genuinely loved the performance of List in Cobra Kai, which is a surprising fact considering the actress’ initial expectations regarding her casting. According to List, she thought she wouldn’t make it through the audition of Cobra Kai because she had hardly slept before that. List told PureWow:
I only went to my friend’s movie premiere the night before and barely slept. I committed to it, but winged it, and I was shocked when they loved it.
Fans of Cobra Kai must be grateful that despite all the odds, List made it through and played the role of Tory Nichols in the show.
Why Was Peyton List Interested in Working in Cobra Kai?
Although List wasn’t that hopeful about getting a role in Cobra Kai after her audition, she strongly wished to be in it. She shared what actually pushed her to become a member of the show.
List said that the character of Tory Nichols made her fall head over heels for it, especially because it was something different than her Disney role. List said:
I think how different that character is from my Disney role really did initially attract me to the part.
List further mentioned that she also wanted to be a part of the show because she really wished to work with Jacob Bertrand again. Well, fate favored her and despite her negative thoughts, she managed to impress the entire casting team.
