On the latest episode of The Kardashians, Kim Kardashian opened up about her famous statement asking women to “get up and work.” In March 2022, the socialite advised women to “get your f**king ass up and work” in an interview with Variety. People on social media criticized the SKIMS mogul for her tone-deaf remarks, who had to later apologize for it during an interview with Good Morning America. In the episode, the socialite discussed her controversial statement with her sisters Khloe Kardashian and Kendall Jenner, revealing that she was “blindsided” by the reaction she received from people on social media.

On the latest episode of The Kardashians, which dropped on Thursday, Kim Kardashian explained to her sisters Khloe Kardashian and Kendall Jenner that she was “blindsided” because of the criticism she received. She said,

“There’s just been so much going on because of that Variety interview. It’s like, I said what I said about people working. Do I believe in that? Yes. I believe that you have to work hard in order to do that, but I was just so blindsided by how angry people got.”

The socialite explained her side of the story adding that her statement was misunderstood as her intention was to motivate women.

Earlier this year, the socialite advised women to “get your f**king ass up and work” during an interview with Variety. A lot of people criticized her saying that not everyone is as privileged as her and it was easy for her to say it as she was born into a well-off family. People said she herself did not work hard enough and everything in her life was silver-spooned to her. Shortly after the backlash, the socialite apologized for her statement.

Even in the episode, the SKIMS mogul apologized for what she said. She explained that she understands not everyone has the same resources as she has but her purpose was to just motivate all the women around the world. She said,

“When I made that statement, it wasn’t a blanket statement to all women, like as if I didn’t think women work hard or respect the work that they do because I see it every single day. So, I hated that they got misunderstood and for that, I’m so sorry.”

The socialite concluded by saying that the most important people in her life, that have “shaped my life, shaped my career, and helped me get to where I am today” are all women.
