“I was such a loser”: Emma Watson Went Around Ruining Takes on Harry Potter By Mouthing Her Co-star’s Lines, Claimed She Always Overdid It
Emma Watson has had a spectacular career in the entertainment world so far. She is most recognized for playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies. She became renowned because of her portrayal of the smart young witch, but despite her various film appearances, her time in the wizarding world is still the most unforgettable. The friendships she made while working on the Harry Potter sets are what makes her extraordinary.
But we often forget that they were only children at the time of filming because of their amazing acting. Watson herself admits to some cute mishaps, like accidentally mouthing her co-stars’ lines and disrupting takes. How adorable!
Emma Watson kind of overdid it while trying to give her best
Every time we hear the name Emma Watson, we think of the brave little witch who was always there for Harry Potter. Despite being a similar age to Harry and Ron, Hermione occasionally acted strictly to keep the lads in line. However, it appears that she went a little further than that. Watson acknowledged on Jimmy Kimmel Live that she frequently ruined takes. But she didn’t do it on purpose. Along with her own lines, she would also learn those of her co-stars, who were, we should add, young kids too.
Kimmel advised everyone to pay close attention to Watson just before the clip began to play. The clip showed Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe saying their lines and Hermione aka Watson was mouthing Radcliffe’s lines too. The charming anecdote made Jimmy Kimmel chuckle out loud. Embarrassed, Emma Watson exclaimed, “You laugh! This is actually quite traumatic for me.” She acknowledged that she caused problems, ruined takes, and caused them to reshoot the scenes as a result.
The director of the first two Harry Potter movies, Chris Columbus would stop filming and comment, “Emma, you are doing it again, you are mouthing Dan’s lines.” Watson would become aware and apologize. She went a little too far in trying to do her best. She acknowledged, “I was such a loser. I really wanted to do my job well that I kind of overdid it.” It seems Emma Watson was no different than her character Hermione Granger. Both were overachievers.
Will Emma Watson return to the Hermione Granger role?
With a focus on the value of inclusivity and diversity inside the Wizarding World, the upcoming Harry Potter reboot is adding a new twist to the casting choices. There have been rumors that the iconic role of Hermione Granger might go to an actress of color. This would be a big step toward increasing diversity in the magical world.
In late 2022, while Warner Bros. considered turning the acclaimed stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child into a movie, fans briefly speculated that Emma Watson may rejoin the franchise. But the rumors died down soon enough. Emma Watson’s reluctance to work with J.K. Rowling, the series’ creator, as a result of Rowling’s divisive comments on transgender issues, is said to have contributed to this change in plans. Therefore, it appears that Emma Watson won’t be reprising her amazing Hermione Granger role anytime soon. Never say never, though.
