Dermot Mulroney recently gave the public a reason to be shocked and laugh at the same time. During an interview with Michael Rosenbaum, Mulroney talked about the TV movies that he did early on in his career and how those projects led up to one of the most successful movies of his career. He also revealed that he was the very first person who was shown on screen with a c*ndom in hand.
Although it sounds like a trivial record to have by someone’s name, it still is one of a kind for sure. In his Inside Of You Clips interview, Mulroney said:
“I wanted to make sure everyone knows that I was the first person on network television to be allowed to hold a c*ndom. I mean it was otherwise going to be missed if I didn’t tell people that.”

Michael Rosenbaum couldn’t believe it at first and immediately laughed at such a revelation from Mulroney. The talk show host then went on to tell a story of his own from when he visited Vegas.
My Best Friend’s Wedding Gave Dermot Mulroney His Breakthrough
Just at the beginning of the interview, Rosenbaum mentioned the 1997 movie that turned out to be a breakthrough in Mulroney’s acting career. Rosenbaum discussed how My Best Friend’s Wedding was something that Mulroney still must be proud of even after 27 years of its release.
My Best Friend’s Wedding is a 1997 comedy romance movie that was directed by P. J. Hogan. The movie features Mulroney as Michael O’Neal and Julia Roberts as Julianne Potter. The movie impressed both critics and audiences upon release and became a global box-office hit.
The success of the movie surely brought Mulroney into the limelight. Rosenbaum mentioned that the movie was the point from where life started happening for Mulroney. Rosenbaum addressed this, saying:
“It was kind of like a big start for you.”
Without even the slightest delay, Mulroney admitted that it was My Best Friend’s Wedding from where his career actually took off. It seems like the actor will forever be grateful to the movie for giving him a chance to flourish.
The Scream VI star also reflected on how taken he was with Roberts when he went to audition for the movie. He said that he had no idea if he would get the role or not, but he was enamored with the actress from the moment they made eye contact.
