Beabadoobee, aka Beatrice Laus, scored a special opportunity to open for Swift’s tour. As a longtime fan of Swift, the Apple Cider singer has openly shared how Tay’s music, especially Our Song, really inspired her. Being able to perform alongside her idol was truly a dream come true for Bea.
Beabadoobee Went Unexpectedly Numb During the Opening Act for the Eras Tour
Performing on such a massive stage like the Eras Tour was a lot of pressure for Beabadoobee. Looking back, Bea is grateful but admits she “felt quite numb on stage.” To her, looking at the crowd felt like staring at a 2D image. She couldn’t differentiate people and only saw blurry, faceless forms scattered across a painted backdrop in her eyes. The songstress told Nylon:
Someone told me by the second show — even by the second song — it’s gonna feel super normal. By the end of the tour, I was wanting to sh*t myself every time I went on stage, and I’m like, ‘Nothing has changed.’
Despite the performance anxiety, the Filipino-British singer’s time on the Eras Tour wasn’t all negative. Taylor Swift surprised Bea during her first night by dedicating her performance of Our Song to her. Regarding this, the young performer told Bustle:
I felt like I was going to vomit and cry and sob and sh*t my pants all at the same time. It was crazy. I just didn’t expect it. The fact she said that this was for young Bea, this is healing my inner child. It’s healing all my issues and problems.
Bea was super surprised when T-Swizzle dedicated a song to her. She told Bustle that she didn’t expect that at all! Hearing that from someone, she look up to felt like a part of her childhood was being healed.
From Supporting Act to Solo Spotlight
Beabadoobee loves ‘90s and early 2000s music and has a cool, lo-fi style. She gained fame in 2017 with Coffee, which went viral on TikTok in 2020. The 22-year-old released two albums since then! Her upcoming album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves is set for release this August.
