“I wasn’t very worldly”: Mark Wahlberg Refuses To Admit Making Kate Moss Feel Miserable During Infamous Calvin Klein Ad
Mark Wahlberg is refusing to take responsibility for Kate Moss feeling “miserable” during their infamous 1990s Calvin Klein underwear ad campaign. In a new interview, Wahlberg admits he was “rough around the edges” at the time but claims to have no recollection of Moss disliking the experience. Her previous statements, however, paint a very different picture.
What Actually Happened During the Calvin Klein Shoot?
According to The Guardian, The Calvin Klein Obsession ads featured a topless Mark Wahlberg and barely-clothed Kate Moss in intimate, provocative poses. Moss later said she hated the concept and felt pressured into the uncomfortable situation at just 18 years old.
“I had a nervous breakdown when I had to go and work with Marky Mark and Herb Ritts,” Moss told. “It didn’t feel like me at all. I felt really bad about straddling this buff guy. I didn’t like it at all.”
She said Wahlberg also made critical comments about her “skinny” body that made her self-conscious. After the traumatic shoot, Moss lay in bed for two weeks convinced she was going to die.

What is Mark Wahlberg’s Version of Events?
When asked if he ever reconciled with Moss over the experience, Wahlberg claimed ignorance about her objections.
“I never really had a problem with Kate, did I?” he questioned. Wahlberg said he was likely just “a little rough around the edges” at the time.
“I wasn’t very…worldly, let’s say that,” he laughed.
Wahlberg stated he has seen Moss over the years at events and they’ve exchanged pleasantries. His version completely contradicts Moss’ previous vivid account of despising the photoshoot and Wahlberg’s behavior. He did not acknowledge any past tensions.
Is Mark Wahlberg Known For Controversies?
This is not the first time Wahlberg has downplayed controversies from his youth. He committed multiple assaults, including against a Vietnamese man, and served time in jail. Wahlberg claimed his difficult upbringing in a deprived neighborhood may have contributed to his behavior then. He says he has tried to learn from past mistakes.
Despite leaving his own violent past, Wahlberg continues to frequently take roles in action movies heavy on fighting. When asked why he still opts for such violent characters, Wahlberg argued he is simply drawing from his real-life experiences and audiences appreciate the authenticity.
