Christopher Nolan Regrets Reading Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction Script
Quentin Tarantino is more famous for his fiction materials and in fact, there are many movies by the Hollywood star which majorly include his fictional thoughts which have been appreciated by many fans around the world.
However, Christopher Nolan didn’t get that similar experience after he went through one of Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction scripts. Nolan has been known for his famous sci-fi movies which has always left fans with a huge excitement and joy.
During his interview with The New York Times, the Oppenheimer director shared how his works and thoughts when he was making his blockbusters movies like Inception.
“I think we’ve actually been quite clear in a funny sort of way. It’s really, at its core, a big action heist movie, and it’s a movie that doesn’t try to bamboozle the audience continuously,” Nolan explained.
Adding to his remarks, he also shared more in detail about his movie, Inception where he disclosed that he got a chance to go through the famous Pulp Fiction of his popular director friend, Quentin Tarantino.
“I was interning at a film company years ago, and I read the script for Pulp Fiction before I saw the movie, and I always regretted it. I’m a huge Reservoir Dog fan, I was really excited to see [Quentin Tarantino’s] next film. Reading the script wasn’t the same as seeing the film. And then seeing the film, having read the script, wasn’t the same as seeing the film.”
Furthermore, he added he did understand how the Pulp Fiction director thinks when it comes to making a fictional plot, but the fact the script and Nolan’s vision of the movie weren’t going in parallel made a negative effect on Nolan’s movie.
Quentin Tarantino’s Praise for Christopher Nolan
Tarantino has credited Nolan for many of his movies where in fact when Interstellar was released in 2014, he talked about how the Academy Award Winner took the overall cinematic experience to the next level.
“We’re waiting for the movie to start and it hit me. I realized that it hadn’t been since The Matrix that I was actually that interested in seeing a movie even though I didn’t know what I was going to see,” Tarantino once told The Guardian
Post watching his new Interstellar movie, the fiction movie maker went to the public sharing the list of movies by Nolan which he loved a lot.
“Christopher Nolan would be just as good of a filmmaker as he is, just as a potent filmmaker as he is if he was making movies in 1975. Or, if he was making movies in 1965. I’d like to see Chris Nolan’s version of The Battle of Bulge. That would be f***ing awesome,” Tarantino said.
However, there were times when Tarantino didn’t get to understand the vision of the movie made by Nolan. The movie was Tenet which was released back in 2020.
Nolan’s upcoming movie, Oppenheimer has been gaining a lot of traction post its release. The story of the movie has been adapted from a popular 2005 biography named American Prometheus written by Kai Bird.
