Moreover, the 59-year-old director shared that this film was something close to his heart. Yamazaki told Sanspo:
“I was really happy and relieved. I’ve always wanted to make a Godzilla movie, so this was the moment when my dream of 50 years came true.”

Godzilla Minus One’s Epic Success
The obsession with the extraterrestrial realm of fiction is not unknown. Unfortunately, the release of a Godzilla film is not an annual event. However, the anticipation is what makes the big moment that much special. Many would argue that the significant gap between two consecutive films is what ensures the making of a good film.
Godzilla Minus One was no exception either. This was the 33rd film of the franchise and came after a good five-year-long wait, unlike its recent predecessors. It performed exceptionally well, surpassing some of the highest-grossing films of the year.
After the director’s statements regarding a sequel, social media spaces are abuzz with anticipation. But it should be taken into notice that there are no official announcements on the matter.
