“I would die my hair black and only cut it with a razor blade”: Margot Robbie Confesses Her Teenage Obsession
While appearing on The Graham Norton Show, Margot Robbie revealed how big of a heavy metal fan she used to be. The actress even admitted to styling in the “goth” or emo aesthetic during her teenage years. And according to her she still has not gotten over it as she is still a genuine fan of the genre, especially the American band Slipknot. In addition to that, the Suicide Squad actor also described what it was like when she attended one of the band’s concerts. Slipknot members also know how big of a fan she is as they invited her again to their concert. However, the information prompted one of her fellow guest Cate Blanchett to question Robbie’s taste in music. Although it was probably meant to be harmless, some fans did not like the way Blanchett put her question.
Margot Robbie Reveals Her Teenage Obsession
Recently, Margot Robbie opened up about her music taste on The Graham Norton Show. According to the Suicide Squad actor, she is a big heavy metal fan. And her favorite band from the genre is Slipknot. Robbie mentioned that she started listening back when she was a teenager and has continued now as a grown adult.
Moreover, as if it was not enough to just listen, the actress also revealed how she also put effort to look the part. Due to her musical taste, Robbie ended up going through a teen emo phase like many millennials of her age. She shared,
“I would only listen to heavy metal music, [and] I would die my hair black and only cut it with a razor blade. So yeah, kinda goth.”
Furthermore, the Wolf of Wall Street actor mentioned that while attending a Slipknot concert she was recognized by so many people, which she did not experience anywhere else. This is not new news for many as the band already knows about her being a fan. Back in 2018, Slipknot member Corey Tyler surprised Robbie during one of her BBC 1 Radio appearances. And even asked her to attend their concert once again. That is truly a win for any heavy metal fan.
Cate Blanchett’s Reaction Received Criticism from the Fans
One of Margot Robbie’s fellow guest members on The Graham Norton show was another big name, Cate Blanchett. While the Birds of Prey actor indulged in talking about her heavy metal obsession, Blanchett questioned,
“Does anyone like heavy metal? Was that something you genuinely liked?”
To this Robbie responded by confirming, “I genuinely did, and still do genuinely like it”. While the Thor actor probably meant no harm, her question did not sit right with some of the fans. One fan pointed out that Blanchett questioning Robbie seemed a bit “condescending”. While another said it was the “worst thing” that a heavy metal fan could hear.
