In a recent profile with GQ, actor Glen Powell took the journalist on a tour of Warner Bros. and shared that he was not interested in playing a superhero on-screen when they stopped at the new Superman logo on the door of James Gunn’s office. Powell clarified that he was not among the actors who had tried out for DCU’s Man of Steel. Instead, he said,
I was always a Batman guy. I would have a wild take on Batman. It definitely would not be like a Matt Reeves tone; it’d probably be closer to Keaton.

I know DiCaprio is super passionate about it. I’m super passionate about it. I think it could be great. I want the one to work. I’d love to play that superhero. I mean, they’ve tried to make it into a superhero movie before, but they kind of did it like an earnest take, and ours is way more subversive and fun.
