Known for her portrayal of Cassie Howard in Sam Levinson’s HBO drama series Euphoria, starring Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney is currently regarded as one of the most hard-working actresses in the industry. Her work in 2023’s Anyone but You, opposite Glen Powell, gained a lot of attention from the audience. Despite the mixed reviews, the movie became the highest-grossing live-action William Shakespeare adaptation.

Sweeney also appeared in Sony Pictures’ Madame Web alongside Dakota Johnson, but unfortunately, the movie failed to make a mark at the box office and in the audience’s minds. The actress then starred in and produced the psychological horror movie Immaculate, which has helped her cement her place in the industry as a versatile actress. Her recent social media post gives her fans a mental picture of her in a very successful and popular franchise.

Fans demand a Pirates of the Caribbean reboot with Sydney Sweeney as the pirate

The 26-year-old Sydney Sweeney in her recent pictures can be seen channeling her inner pirate as she dresses up as a pirate in a tight corset with a vintage mini-white skirt. She completed her look with fishnet stockings, thigh-high boots, and a lace-trimmed pirate hat decorated with a red ribbon.

The actress shared a couple of pictures with her friends dressed as buccaneers on the boat. She also included a video of her singing Natasha Bedingfield’s song Unwritten in a karaoke duet. She captioned her post, ‘What’s a pirate’s favorite letter?’

Natasha Bedingfield’s Unwritten was used in the Sweeney and Glen Powell starrer Anyone but You, and in her conversation with British GQ, the artist shared how her song made its way to the movie. She said,

“I get a lot of requests for my different songs to go in movies, but I love when it’s a rom-com because I really am a rom-com fan. My publishers said it’s being used a lot, and I’m like, ‘yeah, yeah,’ and then I watched it, wow. They told me they actually sang the song in every single scene.”

Looking at Sweeney’s posts, fans couldn’t contain their excitement and demanded a reboot of Pirates of the Caribbean with the actress starring in it. A user wrote, ‘I would tolerate a Pirates of the Caribbean reboot if she was the main protagonist,’ with another writing, ‘This is a Pirate reboot I can get behind.’ Another user commented, ‘I mean, in Pirates of the Caribbean, what a dream.’ Fans commented that the makers should cast the actress in the movie now.

Sydney Sweeney’s rep addressed the claims of a producer who said she ‘can’t act’

According to the Daily Mail, veteran Hollywood producer Carol Baum mentioned that actress Sydney Sweeney is not pretty and can’t act adding that her movie Anyone but You was ‘unwatchable’. She said,

“There’s an actress who everybody loves now: Sydney Sweeney. I don’t get Sydney Sweeney. I was watching Sydney Sweeney’s movie on the plane because I wanted to watch it. I wanted to know who she is and why everybody’s talking about her. I watched this unwatchable movie—sorry to the people who love this…romantic comedy where they hate each other.”

Immaculate cemented Sydney Sweeney’s place in the industry

The report further added that Baum, who is an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California, mentioned it to her class and asked them to explain the actress to her. She mentioned it to her students that she is not pretty and can’t act then why is she so hot. She added that there was no reply from her students.

However, Sweeney’s representative did not hold themselves back and shared a statement with Variety firing back at the producer, stating,

“How sad that a woman in a position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman. If that’s what she learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, that’s shameful. To unjustly disparage a fellow female producer speaks volumes about Ms. Baum’s character.”

According to reports by TMZ the producer already regrets making comments about the young actress and wishes she would have never said anything.
