“I’d love to do it”: Oppenheimer Star Cillian Murphy Seemingly Confirms 28 Years Later Despite Refusing to Appear in Prequel Movie With Jeremy Renner

Cillian Murphy Provides A Major Update On The Sequel Of 28 Days Later
In 2000, Danny Boyle directed 28 Days Later featuring Cillian Murphy. The apocalyptic horror movie received positive reviews from the audience and critics and even had a great box office collection. According to the rumors, 28 Days Later was supposed to get a sequel too, but it never came into existence. During an interview with the entertainment outlet Collider and spoke about the sequel of the Danny Boyle-directed film. The Inception actor provided a major update on the apocalyptic horror drama. He said-
“I was talking to Danny Boyle recently, and I said, “Danny, we shot the movie at the end of 2000.” So I think we’re definitely approaching the 28 Years Later. But like I’ve always said, I’m up for it. I’d love to do it. If Alex [Garland] thinks there’s a script in it and Danny wants to do it, I’d love to do it.”
During an interview with the media platform Inverse, Danny Boyle cleared the air around the sequel of the Cillian Murphy starrer 28 Days Later. The 127 Hours director, said-
“So we’re talking about it quite seriously, quite diligently. If he doesn’t want to direct it himself I’ll be well up for it, if we can execute a similarly good idea.”
After almost two decades, the sequel of 28 Days Later is coming to fruition. According to the recent developments in the zombie drama, fans would not have to wait for long to see experience the Danny Boyle and Cillian Murphy collaboration on screen.
Cillian Murphy on Reuniting with Christopher Nolan For Oppenheimer
The bond between Christopher Nolan and Cillian Murphy needs no introduction. The world has witnessed the magic the actor-director duo paints on screen. With Oppenheimer, Cillian Murphy marks the beginning of his acting career as a mainstream lead actor. During an interview with Rolling Stone UK, Cillian Murphy spoke about the script of the sci-fi epic drama and confessed about being a bona fide Nolan fan. He said-
“It’s the best script I ever read. I think the film is sensational. As a person who loves films — I’m not saying it ’cause I’m in the fucking thing, I hate looking at myself — but as a lover of film, as a cinephile, I’m a Chris Nolan fan.”
Christopher Nolan unanimously opted for Cillian Murphy for J. Robert Oppenheimer’s role. During an interview with the reputed media outlet The Hollywood Reporter, he mentioned-
“He projects an intelligence that allows the audience to feel that they understand the character. I think Oppenheimer, of all the characters that I’ve seen Cillian take on and of all the characters that I’ve dealt with in my work, is one of the most complicated and layered people. Cillian is one of the few talents able to explore those different layers and to project that level of complexity.”
The star-studded cast also includes Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Rami Malek, Matthew Modine, and Josh Hartnett.
