House of the Dragon season 2 has been giving fans a glimpse into all possible emotions and themes that could have happened back then. George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood details the history of House Targaryen as if written by a Maester. The history account does not outline individual characters and their aspirations, something the show took the liberty with.

The HBO prequel series has used real locations and sets to give an aura of authenticity to the scenes. From character costumes to prosthetic burns, every scene in House of the Dragon is crafted with an eye for detail and keeping it as close to reality as possible.

A particular scene in the ongoing season of House of the Dragon shows Alicent and Halaena fleeing to protect themselves from the wrath of the common folk. They are angry over the lack of food and proper nutrition while the castle holds celebrations and feasts on delicious food.

More than the burgeoning war, this season focused on the impact of war on the small folk of King’s Landing. This added another, more relevant, dimension to the narrative that resonated with people the most. In cases of political turmoil, it is the common masses who get squished in the middle.

Talking about the fear of being trampled, Halaena actress Phia Saban shared her experience shooting that specific scene in a behind-the-scenes video. She said,

We got an adrenaline rush like we were on a roller coaster. Every time I believed it was real, because I think if I had stopped, I would have been trampled. It was pretty scary but I don’t get to run around and stuff in this show very much. So, it was really fun.

The chaos of the entire scene was surreal and truly portrayed the ground reality that could have happened in the past. The Greens are struggling to consolidate the masses while Rhaenyra is taking advantage of this very situation. With Mysaria’s help, she is trying to get the common folk to see how Rhaenyra has the true claim to the Iron Throne.
