New pictures from the movie have showcased why Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will always be iconic, as the director teased a new character he’d like to see alongside Deadpool in the next part.

Hugh Jackman reveals why he returned to play Wolverine after seven years

Ahead of the release of the movie Deadpool & Wolverine, Hugh Jackman, who reprised his character from the X-Men series after seven years, shared with Rotten Tomatoes the reason behind his decision to finally return.

I was on my way. I was just driving, and literally, just like a bolt of lightning, came this knowing, deep in my gut, that I wanted to do this film with Ryan for Deadpool and Wolverine to come together. And I swear to you, when I said I was done, I really thought I was done.

The actor added that ever since he watched Deadpool, he had thought that it would be interesting to get the two characters together. He added that he knew that fans wanted it, and ever since he put on the claws, fans have talked about the two of them coming together on screen. Jackman said that he called up Ryan Reynolds and said, ‘Let’s do it’.

Fans are thrilled to witness the magic of Shawn Levy, Hugh Jackman, and Ryan Reynolds on-screen. On the one hand they are excited for Deadpool & Wolverine, and on the other, they have also been looking for updates pertaining to the fourth installment. In an interview with Total Film, the director shared he’s keen on getting Tom Holland for the next. He explained,

The thing about Deadpool is that I think he makes everything more interesting because of his audacity. But boy, I’d love to see Deadpool and Spidey. That’s a movie I’d love to make. I feel like Tom Holland would run circles around everyone else.

They mentioned several examples, like Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Chris Evans’ Captain America, and more. They added that in a similar way, Jackman will always be Wolverine. Another X user stated, ‘It’s one of the most uncastable roles, Hugh Jackman is Wolverine.’

Another fan in the comments wrote, ‘If it’s not broken, don’t fix it’. While users also mentioned that Hugh Jackman genuinely loves playing the character and wants to continue to do so, a user mentioned that Jackman’s eventual replacement will have massive shoes to fill.
