Since the trailer of Aquman 2 has arrived, DCEU fans have been speculating that Amber Heard’s role as Mera in the movie is seemingly redundant due to the controversies surrounding her personal life and trials against Johnny Depp. However, Zack Snyder, while sharing his opinions, stated that he would love to work with Heard in the future as he does not understand why people hate her, unlike him.

Amber Heard‘s reduced role in Jason Momoa‘s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has been a significant topic to discuss after her fans were quite disappointed to barely witness her in the trailer. Even the director, James Wan, cleared that Heard’s redundant role is unrelated to her personal life and the hate she has been receiving from Johnny Depp‘s fans. He also clarified that the next installment was never about Arthur and Mera.

Despite the clarifications and statements, the Drive Angry actress continued to receive backlash and hate especially from Depp’s fans who support Heard’s reduced role as Mera in the upcoming sequel of DCU’s one of the massive hit movies. However, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Zack Snyder opened up about actors who receive hate from people over their superhero stints, including Amber Heard with whom Snyder has worked in his Justice League film. The director said:

“I just don’t get it. If other people don’t like her, I don’t know what to say. I would work with her in a second.”

Zack Snyder mentioned that despite the controversies that The Danish Girl star has been in, he’s ready to work with her in the future. And what might come as a surprise to many is that, back in 2018, Heard told Entertainment Weekly that it was Snyder who excited and encouraged her to take on Mera in Aquaman. She was also thrilled how Aquman’s love interest was introduced in the comics.

Since Amber Heard got into a legal battle with Johnny Depp and made headlines over receiving death threats and hate from people, she even revealed the challenges while securing roles that came with constant battling and negotiations with the makers. According to Entertainment Weekly, the London Fields star said it was:

“hard for me to work, justify working. Every audition, every meeting, every script I got was a negotiation or a fight. I had to justify it as if I was to say, ‘Hey, let’s have an open relationship.’ I’ve always been really independent, and I never imagined not working.”

While explaining that she comes from parents who’ve taught her to work until she becomes unable to do it Amber Heard added: “I never imagined myself having to explain my job or justify my job, but I did.” However, the actress has reprised her role in Aquaman 2, which will focus on Aquaman aka Arthur and his brother Orm or Ocean Master’s relationship.
