In a world of sci-fi cinema, the Alien Franchise has always had a special place in the hearts and minds of fans. While the iconic series has always surprised its fans with its outstanding storyline in each of its spin-offs, for years now fans have been eagerly waiting for its return. The first masterpiece of this franchise was released in 1979 under the direction of Ridley Scott and after its last movie Alien: Resurrection, the franchise was said to come back with Alien: Revelation. Even though Alien 5 was said to bring back two classic characters this highly awaited project never came to its being.

Alien 5 Would Have Brought Back Sigourney Weaver and Winona Ryder

While the return of the Alien franchises has always been a dream of many sic-fi cinema fans, what they were looking forward to most was the return of the iconic characters of Sigourney Weaver and Winona Ryder.

Sigourney Weaver was seen in four of the Alien movies including the 1979 original classic, while on the other hand, Winona Ryder was seen in only Alien: Resurrection. Weaver played the role of Ellen Ripley and Ryder was seen as Annalee Call, and each of them was loved by the fans very much.

As per the reports, these two fan favorites were supposed to return to the Alien 5 whose script was going to be penned by Joss Whedon. Talking about Tom Rothman, the president of Fox production told Viva Winona-Ryder “Joss Whedon will write it, and we expect to have Sigourney and Winona if they’re up for it.”

Even though the movie never happened, the fans still hope to see the return of this iconic franchise with its iconic characters.

Why Did Alien 5 Never Happen?

The end of Alien: Resurrection had left fans excited for its sequel but it never happened. However, the abandonment of this fan-favorite project had its very own reason. At the very beginning, Joss Whedon’s waning interest and commitment to making some original storylines played a very important role in the cancellation of this movie.

However, later in the early 2000s, the news of the movie’s return under the partnership of James Cameron and Ridley Scott ignited hope among the fans. Even this duo wanted the project to be very independent without its dependency on the previous movies. However, even this idea did not make its way and left fans hanging in suspense.

Even after this, there was a lot of talking on the Alines 5 and Alines 6 storyline although all of these tantalizing possibilities never came to fruition.
