People have long perceived Will Smith and Jada Smith’s marriage as ideal. The couple ‌publicly displayed a loving relationship and a healthy family dynamic for the majority of their almost 26 years of marriage. In contrast, the couple has dealt with a number of marital problems behind the doors. Some of which have even led to the breakdown of their marriage.

Jada Pinkett, however, at first believed that dating the King Richard actor might not have been the best decision. The 51-year-old American actress and talk show host was aware that those who knew her well would have counseled her against dating her husband.

Jada Smith Has Called Her Relationship With Will Smith ‘Rough’

The 20+ years of marriage between Will Smith and Jada Smith have outlasted many Hollywood marriages.

The actors, who are acknowledged as Hollywood’s power couple, have experienced many ups and downs in their union. In addition, there was a time when they had nearly considered divorcing because of their discontent.

The fact that Jada Pinkett Smith was not Smith’s first wife is common knowledge. Back in the 1990s, Smith married Sheree Zampino. But after a difficult period, Smith and Zampino eventually parted ways.

When Smith dated Jada Pinkett, he and Zampino were still legally married, despite not being romantically involved. Because of this, the Red Table Talk co-host believed that their relationship was inappropriate.

She once admitted on Red Table Talk that

“The beginning between us was rough. And here’s the one thing I will say in hindsight — because I did not understand marriage, I didn’t understand divorce. I will say that I probably should’ve fell back.”
