“I’ll never forget — I was freaking out”: Jennifer Lawrence’s Wedding to Husband Cooke Maroney was “awful” and “so stressful” For 1 Sole Reason
- After dating for over a year, Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney decided to tie the knot.
- Lawrence was worried about her guests' well-being on her wedding day which left her stressed.
- The No Hard Feelings actress requested co-star and friend, Robert De Niro to leave her rehearsal dinner.
Jennifer Lawrence has been stealing hearts since the early 2010s, and she lost her own in 2018 to art gallery director, Cooke Maroney. The two began dating that year and became officially engaged by the next one. Marriage followed soon after as they tied the knot in late 2019.
The wedding day is perhaps one of the most important days of a woman’s life, but apparently, it is not as enjoyable for the bride herself as it might appear to be. Lawrence once opened up about her own and it is enough to change anyone’s outlook toward how a bride must be feeling on her big day.
Jennifer Lawrence Revealed Why Her Wedding to Cooke Maroney Was Stressing Her Out
Judging from how Jennifer Lawrence talks about her husband, it is very apparent that she could not be more in love if she wanted to. The duo welcomed their first child, a son named Cy, in early 2022. A representative for the actress revealed to Vogue in October that the couple has been blessed with parenthood for a second time.
According to PEOPLE, after getting engaged in February 2019, Lawrence and Maroney got married at the Belcourt of Newport mansion in Rhode Island in October. The Academy Award-winning actress wore a Dior dress for her big day, which must have been happy, but also quite stressful.
During her interview with E! News on the red carpet of the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year, Lawrence joked that being a bride is “awful”. She told the outlet’s chief correspondent Keltie Knight:
It’s so stressful. You’re not having fun. You’re just like, ‘Is that person having fun?’ I’ll never forget—I was freaking out about the guests being cold and all of my friends were lying they’re like, ‘Nobody’s cold, nobody’s cold, everything’s fine, everything’s fine.’
Luckily for her, Karen Lawrence, her mother was honest with her about the weather conditions and informed her that her grandmother almost died because it was extremely cold. That definitely sounds like a very stressful situation for someone who has just gotten married and is supposed to have fun. However, this also shows that the actress really cared about her guests.
Jennifer Lawrence Asked Robert De Niro to Leave Her Rehearsal Dinner
Lawrence had a rehearsal dinner on Rose Island before her wedding day. According to PEOPLE, the couple hosted a clambake under a white tent for 140 guests. The outlet confirmed that Kylie Jenner and Adele were seen arriving at the venue and also claimed that her Silver Linings Playbook co-stars, Bradley Cooper, Nicole Richie, and Joel Madden, were also rumored to have been invited.
The No Hard Feelings actress revealed to E! News that her co-star from the same movie, Robert De Niro was also there at the dinner, and she was concerned about him enjoying it.
I looked over and I saw Bob, who doesn’t know anybody and he’s kind of wandering around, and I immediately was like, ‘No, this isn’t what he wants to be doing. I don’t want him here.’ So I went over and whispered, I was like, ‘Go home’ and he was nice—he like talked to my parents and was polite—but I was like, ‘Go.’
The actress stated that once De Niro left, she felt much better which is understandable. This revelation proves that she was worried about their guests having fun since the rehearsal dinner and her stress did not become any less even on her wedding day.
