Anya Taylor-Joy admits to having the desire to know other people’s cultures

In a recent interview with Vogue Hong Kong, the gorgeous and brilliant actress Anya Taylor-Joy, who made a significant impact on the audience with her work in The Queen’s Gambit and following projects, shared an alternative career option for her. The actress was asked if she weren’t an actress, what would she be doing, to which she said,

I think I’d be a travel journalist. I really love to travel and get to know other people’s cultures. I’ve realized that I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie, so I think that plays into it. Or I’d be working with animals—I’ve always loved orcas and tigers specifically, so whatever would let me work with both of them. Oh, a National Geographic writer! That’s what I’d be doing.

During the interview, the actress touched upon her multicultural upbringing and how it shaped her to be the woman she is today. She mentioned that it took her a long time to be able to just enjoy her multicultural upbringing as a strength rather than feeling that she wouldn’t be able to fit in anywhere. She added,

I think my favorite thing about my upbringing and part of the reason why I love to travel so much is because I have a lot of time empathy and love for other people’s cultures. White I have a lot of pride in all the cultures I come from; I really don’t think I’m better than anything or anyone. And I like that approach to the world.

Anya Taylor-Joy noted that she looks at everything as an opportunity to learn rather than to judge. She also shared that the people she surrounds herself with keep her grounded, especially when she travels a lot due to work. She mentioned that she feels lucky that for a lot of her big moments, her family makes an effort to be there for her and celebrate it with her.

Anya Taylor-Joy would love to play Frozen’s ‘Elsa’

During her interview with Vogue Hong Kong, the actress, who definitely has the looks of a Disney princess and would simply slay any role she’s given, was asked about her dream Disney princess role. She said

I would love to do a musical because I’m a bit addicted to hard work. I like having an impossible mountain to climb. The idea of having to be able to sing, dance, and act at the same time would really thrill me.

The actress admits that Frozen’s Elsa would be a great role for her to play, adding that it would be fun to shoot ice out of one’s hand. She joked that she could be the favorite at every kid’s birthday party, pointing out that her siblings have kids now and she would love for them to be able to say, ‘My auntie is Elsa’.

Taylor-Joy is no stranger to dancing, as she is trained in ballet, and she mentioned that her training helped her to fight choreography for the intense stunts in movies.

She added that her background as a dancer has helped her with everything in her life, adding that it’s not only the discipline that it instills in one. She notes that she sees acting as a rhythm thing, which helps her so much with stunt choreography. The actress adds that she relishes the opportunity to be able to do as many stunts as she did because there’s a very specific perfectionism that comes with stunts, and she loves that.
