Jelly Roll, real name Jason Bradley DeFord, is an American country singer who rose to mainstream prominence with his singles 2021’s Son of a Sinner and 2023’s Need a Favor. His 2021 single earned him three CMT Music Awards and was nominated at the 2024 Grammy Awards for Best New Artist.

The artist won New Artist of the Year at the 57th Annual Country Music Association Awards and delivered an inspiring speech for the ones looking for hope. He recently won Best New Pop Artist and Best New Country Artist at the 2024 iHeart Radio Awards. Jelly Roll mentions he is looking forward to continue the ‘healthy lifestyle’ 

In his recent conversation with People Magazine, country artist Jelly Roll touched on the subject of his health journey. He shared;

“I’m probably down 70-something pounds. I’ve been kicking a** man. I’m doing two to three miles a day, four to six days a week. I’m doing 20 to 30 minutes in the sauna and six minutes in a cold plunge every day. I’m eating healthy right now.”

Ahead of his Beautifully Broken Tour, which kicks off in August, the country artist mentions that he is happy with his progress and is looking to continue with a lifestyle shift. Roll noted that he feels really good and that he plans on losing another 100 and a half pounds.

“If I feel this good down to this weight, man, I can only imagine what I’m going to feel like by the time I go on tour.”

Roll’s weight loss journey follows his announcement from January that he was going to participate in the 2 Bears 5K on May 7, but he clarified that he is not trying to outrun anyone. The artist mentioned that his goal is to be able to do a 15-minute mile. Warren Zeiders and Alexandra Kay will be joining Jelly Roll for his Beautifully Broken Tour. The singer is looking forward to performing for the fans who have supported him through his meteoric rise to fame over the past few years.

In his conversation with People, Jelly Roll noted that he is aware that his music is not something that people can listen to sitting by the pool, but something that helps them get through something. It is one of the reasons why he is looking forward to performing for his fans starting in August. The tour will kick off from August 27th 2024 and wrap up on October 27th 2024.

The artist who won Best New Artist at the 2023 Country Music Awards via his speech encouraged people to keep going. Roll, after thanking everyone who inspired him to be the artist he is today, decided to address something very essential for the fans. He said,

“There is something poetic about a 39-year-old man winning new artist of the year. I don’t know where you’re at in your life or what you’re going through, but I want to tell you to keep going, baby. I want to tell you, ‘Success is on the other side.’”

At the 2024 CMT Awards held in Austin, Texas, Jelly Roll won all three awards for which he was nominated. The awards included Video of the Year for Need a Favor, Male Video of the Year, and CMT Performance of the Year. The country artist is nominated at the 2024 Academy of Country Music Awards and became the first artist since Billy Ray Cyrus‘ nomination in 1993 to go from never being nominated at ACMs to being nominated for Entertainer of the Year.

The 2024 Academy of Country Music Awards will be held on May 16th and will be live-streamed on Prime Video.
