“I’m not white”: Larsa Pippen Gets Slammed by Kelly Ripa’s Close Friend Andy Cohen for Cultural Appropriation After Getting Scorned for Dating Michael Jordan’s Son
TV personality and Real Housewives of Miami star Larsa Pippen has invited trouble as she was criticized on the internet for the box braids she wore during a cast trip in part 3 of the Real Housewives of Miami Season 5 reunion. A fan asked if she was appropriating black culture and she explained that her mother used to do the same.
She further explained that she always wears braids on vacations and revealed that her kids also sport the same hairstyle. The TV personality is currently in the spotlight for dating Michael Jordan’s son, Marcus Jordan. Their 16-year age gap has raised a lot of eyebrows.
Larsa Pippen talked about her braided hair
TV personality Larsa Pippen was previously asked by a fan if she was appropriating black culture by sporting braids. The fan sent in a question,
“Watching the tease for the season, I noticed you were sporting braids in the Bahamas. Fashion-wise, you can pull it off. But do you think it’s really culturally appropriate? I think you’re going to get a lot of backlash.”
Pippen was spotted sporting braids in part 3 of the Real Housewives of Miami Season 5 reunion as the cast went on a trip.
The TV personality said she braids her hair whenever she is on a vacation
Larsa Pippen then replied to the fan’s question by revealing that she has been braiding her hair since she was a little child. She said,
“I mean, I’m not white. So I don’t know — my mom used to wear braids. My grandparents are Moroccan. My mom had braids when she was a kid. I’ve been braiding my hair every time I’ve gone on vacation since I can remember. My honeymoon pictures, my hair was braided. When I was 18 years old, my hair was braided.”
The TV personality further revealed that her kids also sport the same style as they have a special braider who comes and braids her kids’ hair every 10 days.
Larsa Pippen is currently dating Marcus Jordan
The TV personality has been romantically linked to Michael Jordan’s son, Marcus Jordan for a very long time now. Although the two have stated in the past that they are “strictly friends.” However, Pippen has now hinted on her social media accounts that the two might be dating.
Their massive age gap has been criticized by the internet but they seem to be ignoring all the hate. In February, Pippen posted a picture in which Jordan can be seen holding her hand and has his arm around her shoulders. Many sources have previously confirmed that they are “dating and happy.”
Pippen was married to Scottie Pippen until 2021. Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan have their own feud and this raised a lot of questions regarding Pippen’s relationship with Michael Jordan’s son. However, it was previously confirmed by the TV personality that Michael Jordan does not have an issue with their relationship.
