Tay participated in competitions at the Royal Ballet Academy in addition to her love of dance and other hobbies. On August 9, 2023, her family announced the news of her premature death via an Instagram post. Christopher John Hope and Angela Tian, Lil Tay’s parents, were crucial figures in her journey. Tay lived in Vancouver with her mother Tian, a real estate agent, throughout her early climb to popularity. However, Tian suffered repercussions as a result of the explicit language in the viral films, as she lost her job in 2018 as a result of working with her daughter to produce the skits. Lil Tay’s father refused to confirm his daughter’s passing in a recent interview with The Post, responding cryptically, “I’m not able to give you any comment right now. I’m sorry, I can’t.”
Lil Tay allegedly passed away, and her Instagram account posted a statement saying, “We have no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribable pain. This outcome was entirely unexpected and has left us all in shock.” The post emphasized that Lil Tay’s and her brother’s passing circumstances are still being investigated while the family deals with the tragic loss and made a request for privacy. Even Henry Tsang, who is said to have been Lil Tay’s former manager, declined to corroborate the rumors, advising caution and patience as the scenario develops.
