Justin Timberlake, once the heartthrob of America, is evidently having a hard time this year. His recent DUI arrest is the latest addition to the list of hits his career has taken. The singer addressed the incident at a concert, but fans do not seem too eager to let go of it yet.
Timberlake, along with his Mickey Mouse Club co-star JC Chasez, rose to prominence as the lead vocalist of the boyband *NSYNC. His relationship with another Mickey Mouse Club co-star Britney Spears in the late 1990s and early 2000s was widely covered by the media and the claims he seemed to have made in one of his songs after their breakup affected the Toxic singer negatively. Some online fans brought that up when the news of him addressing the DUI arrest with humble words broke out.
Justin Timberlake’s Addressed His DUI Arrest in NYC at a Concert
Justin Timberlake shared the screen with some of the biggest upcoming stars like Ryan Gosling, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Kerri Russell in the Disney show Mickey Mouse Club. His subsequent work as a member of the boyband *NSYNC established him as a star. For years, he was the golden boy of America, owing to his shining solo career and roles in films.
The boyband went on hiatus in 2002, but Timberlake continued to be successful with singles like Mirrors and My Love. He has also been involved in a fair share of scandals, the most popular of which remain him insinuating that his ex-partner Spears’ cheated on him in the song Cry Me a River and the Janet Jackson n*pplegate at the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show in 2004.
The most recent of these is his DUI arrest during which the young cop who arrested him did not even recognize according to Page Six. That said, during his concert in Chicago on Friday night, he addressed the arrest, saying (via Pop Base on X):
It’s been a tough week. I know sometimes I’m hard to love but you keep on loving me and I love you right back.
This is not the first time a celebrity has been arrested, but getting into legal troubles during his world tour might affect Timberlake in more ways than one.
Fans Are Not Ready to Forgive Justin Timberlake Yet
Despite Timberlake’s modest request for support, some fans are not willing to let go of his actions yet. Some even went as far as bringing up Britney Spears while addressing that they have lost their respect for The Social Network actor. Here is what some of the fans said on X:
Fans seem to be alluding to the fact that he escaped the Janet Jackson incident fairly unscathed while her career took a huge hit and his alleged accusations of Spears cheating on him painting the songstress in a negative light. Actions are bound to have repercussions and Timberlake seems to be no exception.
