Top Gun: Maverick is one of the most significant movies because during the pandemic several streaming platforms attempted to buy the rights to the movie, but Cruise was adamant that the movie is made for cinemas and will premiere in cinemas. Marvel Studios’ recent release, Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, has soared higher than what was expected of the movie in its first weekend. According to Variety, the movie has grossed $211 million at the domestic box office and has been ranked as the sixth biggest opening of all time.

The publication pointed out that Deadpool & Wolverine recorded an estimated $205 million in ticket sales, which is the biggest opening weekend of the year. Directed by Shawn Levy, Marvel Studios’ first R-rated movie is expected to cross the $1 billion mark soon.

Just like Pixar, Marvel Studios had been struggling for a while, and Deadpool & Wolverine’s release seems like a breathe of fresh air for the studios. It was marketed by stating that it’s going to change the course of MCU and well it’s release and the response certainly proves that it might be true.

The movie scored an ‘A’ at the CinemaScore along with the positive response from critics and the audience that is very likely to help the movie touch the 1 billion mark soon. Disney noted that Deadpool & Wolverine has had the biggest opening weekend for any movie since Tom Holland starrer Spider-Man: No Way Home premiered in 2012 (via USA Today)

The publication reported that Fandango also recorded that Deadpool & Wolverine has had an impressive opening for R-rated movies as well. It has been recorded to have surpassed 2015’s Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson starrer Fifty Shades of Grey. The recent release has introduced both Deadpool and Wolverine into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time after the studios purchased the rights to the characters.
