Internet in Utter Disbelief as Riverdale Star Ryan Grantham Kills Mother, Goes for Canada PM Justin Trudeau’s Head
Ryan Grantham, a former Riverdale actor admitted to murdering his mother on 31 March 2021. The 24-year-old actor, murdered his mother while she was playing the piano in her British Columbia home and later admitted his crime to the Vancouver police headquarters. Later, adding another twist to the tale, it was found by the court that the 24-year-old also planned to kill Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

How The Gruesome Act went down

Ryan Grantham
Ryan starred in films like Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010) and Becoming Redwood (2012)

Ryan Grantham, who played the role of the teen Jeffery Augustine in Riverdale, had been feeling hopeless. CBC reported that he had a desire to commit violence, even against himself. The actor was contemplating committing suicide. This feeling might have had something to do with his feelings of anger and anxiousness over perceived failures.

Finalizing what he was about to do, Ryan began to take measures. He even did a walk-through of the crime by secretly approaching his mother with a gun on one occasion, an incident caught on a Go-Pro camera, CBC News reported.

After committing the act, the Supernaturals actor felt remorseful. He could be seen saying, “I shot her in the back of the head. In the moments after, she would have known it was me.” He even apologized to his mother and sister in his March 31 journal entry. He wrote, “I’m so sorry mom, I’m so sorry Lisa … I hate myself.”

Ryan Grantham planned to kill the Prime Minister As well

Unable to think straight, he went out to get money, weed, and beer and then experimented with making Molotov Cocktails. His aim? Killing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. During his sentencing hearing on Monday, prosecutors said Grantham then packed his car with three guns, ammunition, 12 Molotov cocktails, camping supplies, and a sheet with directions to Rideau Cottage where Trudeau lives in Ottawa.

But before going on his mission the next day, he hung a rosary on the piano and arranged lit candles around his mother’s corpse.

But he drove only a few hours east before turning around with thoughts of killing people on Vancouver’s Lions Gate Bridge or at the university where he was a student. In the end, all he could do was drive to the Vancouver police headquarters instead, where he told a police officer in a car that he had killed his mother.

Grantham, 24, also admitted his plan to kill the Liberal Party leader in statements to authorities and from a private journal read in court, the report said.

Ryan Grantham’s actions have left a lot of people devastated

His mother, Barbara Waite was found dead the next day by her daughter Lisa Grantham, who checked up on her mother as she didn’t return texts and phone calls. Lisa was devastated to learn of her brother’s actions and said, “How can I trust anybody when my only sibling chose to execute my mom when her back was turned.”

And it was not just Grantham’s sister. Even Twitter had been left devastated by Grantham’s actions.

Some people also called out a certain section of fans who ‘defended’ Ryan Grantham.

Ryan Grantham played the role of Jeffery Augustine in Riverdale. Ironically, his on-screen character was also a killer, killing Archie’s father in a hit-and-run accident.

Riverdale is currently on its 6th season. It has been confirmed by CW that Season 7, which will debut in 2023 will be the last season of the show.
