Comic-Con 2023 brought along various new trailers and project announcements. Comic book fans are overjoyed with the entertainment the foreseeable future promises them. One of the announcements is the long-awaited Amazon Prime Video’s animated superhero series Invincible. After such a wait, it would be expected for the fan engagement to subdue a bit. But the trailer has been met with extreme excitement. Fans count down the day of season two’s release.

Mark Grayson is the protagonist of the show whose father, Omni-Man was the world’s most powerful superhero. The second season picks up from where the first season left off. The young hero discovers dark secrets from his father’s past and realizes what having so much power truly entails. Based on Robert Kirkman’s novel of the same name, the season two trailer suggests that Invincible’s life takes dramatic turns.

The show debuted on the streaming service in March 2021. It was well-received by critics and masses alike. Hence, was renewed for two seasons when its final episode aired in April 2021. As anticipation built up, the show’s production slowed due to some technical changes in the approach of making. As Marge Dean, head at Skybound Animation clarified at Comic-Con that they discontinued the practice of using computer-generated animation for the show. This, combined with the effects of the pandemic caused the show to take two years to return for its second season.

All That Was Revealed of Invincible Season 2

The show will be of eight episodes, released on November 3. In the eight-episode series, the first four episodes will premiere in November and the remaining four at the beginning of next year.  Making season 2 a two-part endeavor.

At Comic-con, Kirkman revealed that season 2 picks up right after the ending of season one and will introduce a new villain from the comics called Angstrom Levy. He also addressed the years-long wait for the new season and added:

 “This is an extremely complicated show,” Kirkman said, it’s an hour-long animated series. There are so many characters and scenes. We really had to wrap our heads around how this production was going to be managed.”

He assured fans that the wait for season 3 won’t be this long as the work put into the production of this season has brought more structure to the model of work and will result in the timely release of further seasons.

Over 24 new voices are being introduced in the new season including Lea Thompson, Tatiana Maslany, Ben Schwartz, Scoot McNairy, Cliff Curtis, Peter Cullen, and Daveed Diggs. With such an addition to the caste and promisingly enthralling plotline, Invincible Season 2 will be an amusing ride.
