Is Andrew Garfield Returning as Spider-Man? Report Reveals the Future of The Amazing Spider-Man
Andrew Garfield is one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood. The English actor has been a part of a varied range of movies like Hacksaw Ridge, The Social Network, and The Amazing Spider-Man series. He was replaced by Tom Holland as the web crawler superhero in 2016 released Captain America: Civil War. The 40-year-old actor was last seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home along with Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland.
Speculations around Andrew Garfield returning to the superhero franchise are doing the rounds of the tinsel town, and it is believed that he might be seen in one of the biggest crossovers of MCU.
Andrew Garfield Might Return To The Amazing Spider-man Franchise
Andrew Garfield was introduced to the Spider-Man franchise with 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man. The British actor went on to become the face of the web-slinger franchise after replacing Tobey Maguire. According to a post by Cosmic Marvel on X, there is a strong possibility of Andrew Garfield reprising the character of Spider-Man in the upcoming MCU projects, but the chances of him getting a standalone film are very low. The post on X stated-
Andrew Garfield will reportedly continue in the story of his Peter Parker/ Spider-Man. But chances of him getting a solo film is “very minimal.”
From the speculations around Garfield’s return to the superhero franchise, it is evident that he might be seen in the upcoming MCU project, Avengers: Secret Wars. MCU’s Secret Wars is one of the biggest crossovers of all time and is slated to release in 2027. However, with the current multiversal trend in the MCU projects, Andrew Garfield-led Spider-Man could be seen in other projects, too.
Tom Holland Regrets Replacing Andrew Garfield As Spider-Man
During the promotion of The Crowded Room in June 2023, British actor Tom Holland appeared for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. While talking about the Spider-Man franchise, he confessed that he still regrets the way he handled replacing Andrew Garfield as the face of the web-crawler superhero. He mentioned that he was so caught up in getting the role that he did not think once about what Andrew Garfield was going through. He revealed-
“That’s because of my naivete as a kid. I was 19 when I got cast. I was so caught up in getting the role that I never took any time to think about what it must have been like for him. If I’d made my second movie and it didn’t necessarily deliver in the way it should have done and they recast me, I would really struggle to bounce back. Andrew bounced back in the most unbelievable way. I just wish I’d called him and just said, ‘You know I can’t turn down this opportunity.'”
Holland finally got a chance to talk things out with the Breathe star on the set of Spider-Man: No Way Home. He recalled-
“It was wonderful. Myself, Andrew, Tobey — we have this amazing bond as three people who have been through something that is so unique that we really are like brothers. We have a great group chat and we catch up every now and then. It’s called the Spider-Boys.”
Spider-Man: No Way Home featured Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield, and went on to amass a whopping box office collection of $1.9 billion against a production budget of $200 million.
