“It all came down to money with Meghan”: Meghan Markle’s Desire to Have as Much Money and Power as Kate Middleton Reportedly Sparked the Rivalry Between Prince Harry and Prince William
There are already various discussions concerning the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex everywhere. Their return to the UK after their brief visit to New York and their recently released Netflix documentary have absolutely caught the attention of the press and the people.
A royal expert recently claimed that Meghan Markle’s hunger for fame and fortune was the reason for the couple’s deteriorating connection with the royal family. And that before the arrival of Markle, Prince Harry had a familial air around him. But all that changed after his marriage and him and Markle ended up stepping down from their royal duties. It was and still is a huge blow to the royal family.
An Insider recently shared that with the Duchess of Sussex everything was money. And due to that exact reason, she and Prince Harry got separated from the royal family.
Meghan Markle’s Desire for Money Raised Conflict
According to reports, Prince Harry always had a good rapport with his family members. He used to be close with his brother Prince William and Kate Middleton. But that all changed after he married Meghan Markle. Since then the Sussexes have parted ways with the royal family. And recently, an insider of The Sun shared their insight on the matter. The insider source alleged that,
“Harry never worried about money or status within the family until Meghan came along. Kate, William and Harry all got along very well.”
Further, it was also shared that since the start, Markle could not “get her head around” the hierarchy that exists in the royal family. And therefore she wanted Prince Harry and herself to get everything equally as Prince William and Kate Middleton. Markle always wanted to be on the same “monetary level” as the Prince and the Princess of Wales reportedly.
The Sussexes and Their Earnings
Before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal duties, the couple used to receive 95 percent of their annual income from King Charles III. Around 5 million pounds were paid towards the Sussexes’ public duties along with some private expenses.
In addition to that, King Charles III also paid a huge sum to the Sussexes while they were transitioning to become financially independent. Further, the Duke of Sussex also received a substantial amount from the fortune left by his late mother Princess Diana. Prince Harry shared his gratitude while talking with Oprah Winfrey. He said,
“I’ve got what my mum left me. Without that, we wouldn’t have been able to do this.”
By “this”, he was referring to his move to the US with his wife. Besides the royal funds, the royal couple has a media company called Archewell Productions. And in 2020, they signed a multi-million dollar contract with Netflix to produce various shows and such. The media company also produced a podcast called Archetypes with Spotify. Both Prince Harry and Markle also write books. In 2021, Markle produced a children’s book called “The Bench” and Prince Harry will be releasing an upcoming book soon.
