“It seemed like she had put it together in the last minute”: Camille Vasquez Claimed Amber Heard’s Pathetic Defense in Johnny Depp Trial Was Scribbled Together on a Notepad
Last year was quite tough for actress Amber Heard as she lost a defamation case against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. Their case was covered by media all over the world and garnered a lot of attention. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard got married in 2015 but ended their marriage roughly one year later in 2016. American attorney Camille Vasquez, played a key role in the defamation trial as she represented Johnny Depp, ultimately leading to his win. Vasquez once explained that Heard’s notes looked like they were put together in a hurry in a “notepad.” The actress lost the case and was ordered to pay roughly $10 million to Johnny Depp.
Camille Vasquez commented on Amber Heard’s notes
Many people may be familiar with attorney Camilla Vasquez, who earned overnight fame after she represented Johnny Depp in the defamation trial. In an interview with Court TV’s Closing Arguments, Vasquez said that Amber Heard‘s notes felt like they were compiled in a hurry. She said,
“She (Amber Heard) gave the impression that the things she said were things she had thought of at the last minute, that they were notes she had in a notebook.”
With the help of Camille Vasquez, Johnny Depp was able to win the highly publicized trial and Amber Heard was ordered to pay $10 million.
The attorney felt bad for the actress
Later in the interview, Vasquez explained that she felt bad for Amber Heard as it felt like “no one on her team was helping her.” The famous attorney said,
“I even felt that there was really no one on her team who was helping her with her statements. You would see her team and they were always sitting in their places. That made me feel really bad for her, because our team is completely different”
However, later in the interview, Camille Vasquez stated that Amber Heard claimed to be a victim of domestic abuse, but it was Johnny Depp “who ended up in the hospital.”
Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for defamation
In 2018, Amber Heard wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post claiming that she is a victim of domestic abuse. Johnny Depp decided to file a defamation lawsuit against her which reached a conclusion on June 1st, 2022. The court ruled in favor of Depp as it was concluded that the op-ed was about the actor and Heard was ordered to pay roughly $10 million.
The two got married in 2015 but their relationship ended in 2016 after Heard filed for divorce and obtained a restraining order against Depp, alleging that he had physically and verbally abused her during their marriage. Depp denied all the claims.
