“It was a female babysitter who s*xualized me very early”: Pamela Anderson Was Ashamed of Horrifying Childhood, Says She Had to Protect Her Brother
A certain level of top-shelf chaos is necessary for fame. Pamela Anderson had six marriages, Hepatitis C, and the first internet-era s*x tape, which she recorded with her then-husband Tommy Lee recorded while on their honeymoon. In her upcoming memoir, Love, Pamela, which will be released on January 31, 2023, Anderson discussed her past trauma in detail. She explained how difficult her early years were during her recent interview with People. The Canadian-American actress also shared her childhood se*ual abuse incident and her thoughts on child molestation.
Anderson claimed to have been “s*xualized” by a female babysitter who made her play “weird games” with her body. Additionally, she was s*xually abused by the babysitter. “A female predator; that was tough to understand,” Anderson said. She continued by saying that despite knowing it was wrong, the woman had threatened her to keep it a secret. Anderson admitted that she also kept quiet out of concern for her younger brother.
Pamela Anderson on surviving horrifying childhood se*ual abuse
Pamela Anderson has captivated the public’s interest for the majority of her life. For instance, in 2022, the Hulu limited series Pam & Tommy was centered on the former Playboy Playmate’s s*x tape with her then-husband Tommy Lee despite she didn’t give her consent. However, she is retelling her tale in 2023. Anderson opened up to People about her early years shaped the rest of her career and life before the release of both her memoir and the Netflix documentary Pamela, A Love Story on January 31.
The Alone at Night star started off by briefly recounting her experiences there, emphasizing how she overcame challenges like abuse and even heartbreak. She remembers that when she was younger, she didn’t think of herself as being attractive; rather, she thought of herself as “athletic and funny.” Thus, she believes that focusing on those interests helped her cope.
Anderson continued by describing how she was initially s*xualized by a female babysitter and made to “play weird games on her body.” She simply followed her babysitter’s instructions to prevent her brother from suffering the same fate. “She threatened me not to tell anyone. Or else. I was trying to protect my brother,” she said.
“ I was very ashamed. I didn’t tell anyone. I didn’t know what to do,” she added.
Pamela Anderson was r*ped by a man a decade older than her
Following that, the abuse didn’t stop. Pamela Anderson claimed that a few years later when she was about 12 or 13, she was r*ped by a man who was ten years older than her. This time, she kept the incident a secret. “Part of me just gave up. That acted as another “nail in the coffin,” as she put it. She developed thick skin despite the trauma from the events. “I could not have survived my adult life without the strength I learned early on.” The Game Changers actress also discussed how, at the age of 17, after appearing in a Canadian beer commercial, she was able to redeem her s*xuality.
The 55-year-old actress continued by stating that shortly after, she started working as a model. And this gave her the opportunity to reclaim her s*xuality and regain her power as a woman. Looking back, Anderson hopes that sharing her experience in her own words will be “empowering” for those going through similar things.
Hulu released Pam & Tommy last year, a film based on Pamela Anderson and her ex-husband Tommy Lee. According to U.S. Weekly, Anderson expressed her disapproval of the series. However, she claims that her upcoming memoir is an effort by the celebrity to present the truth about her journey.
Along with her memoir, the 55-year-old’s documentary, Pamela, a Love Story, will be made available on January 31, 2023.
