At the time of the incident, Rihanna was becoming increasingly concerned since her stalker had been compared to the insane fan who had murdered John Lennon. Mark David Chapman, a stalker, shot the iconic member of The Beatles in New York City in 1980. New York City judge Orlando Marrazzo said in a statement,

“He appears to be a ticking time bomb who is wholly fixated on Rihanna and poses a direct threat of serious physical harm or death to her and anyone around her.”

Additionally, he ruled that the claimed stalker was ineligible to face trial and mandated that the defendant be admitted to a Staten Island, New York, mental facility. Furthermore, McGlynn is not permitted to call, write, or use a computer to contact the singer. It wasn’t the first time the singer had been chased by the insane stalker.
