Jennifer Lawrence nearly rejected her Hunger Games role

Lawrence’s portrayal of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games franchise was one of the most acclaimed ones. The 32-year-old rose to fame after playing the lead in the adventure films.
The Silver Linings Playbook star’s recent appearance on The Rewatchable podcast revealed how she almost rejected starring in The Hunger Games films. She admitted it was difficult to explain to people how she was concerned to join a massive franchise. The actress said,
“When I was trying to talk to people about making this decision after they offered it to me, I was just like, ‘I don’t know.’ It was so hard to explain to people.”
The Oscar winner admitted that she nearly backed out of the project because she was concerned about the potential for a huge fan following.
The No Hard Feelings actress said,
“I just assumed it was going to be like Twilight, like the Twilight-level of fame and that was just never something I had in mind. I wanted to do indies and I wanted to do good films, but I didn’t want to be the most famous person on the planet. That’s a very different life than what I had pictured for myself.”
Jennifer Lawrence further explained how she auditioned for Twilight and got rejected. The Mother actress said,
“I didn’t even get a callback [laughs]. But my life would’ve been totally different. I got Hunger Games I think, like, a year later.”
The Academy Award winner continued by saying that she “would have been miserable” if she had received the same kind of attention as Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, the actors who played lead roles in the Twilight saga.
Jennifer Lawrence is open to playing Katniss Everdeen in the future
Jennifer Lawrence, while promoting her new R-rated film No Hard Feelings, revealed how she is open to reprising her famous Katniss Everdeen role in The Hunger Games franchise. The actress said, “If Katniss ever could ever come back into my life, 100 percent.”
Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks, Donald Sutherland, and Woody Harrelson, all starred in the four Hunger Games films. Francis Lawrence directed the last three, while Gary Ross directed the first, which was released in 2012.
A prequel to The Hunger Games movies, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set to release this year. The cast of the upcoming prequel film includes Viola Davis, Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth, Peter Dinklage, Jason Schwartzman, and Hunter Schafer.
