Angelina Jolie worked on the 1998 romantic drama, Playing by Heart. The film followed several characters on their journey of love, heartbreak, forgiveness, and hope. Harvey Weinstein was attached to the film as an executive producer, and he was later accused of s*xual assault under the #MeToo movement. After this, the Gia star also opened up about how the producer attempted to assault her while she was working on the 1998 film, Playing by Heart.
And she was heartbroken when her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, starred in a film produced by Weinstein’s production company. Jolie shared that they had multiple arguments over Pitt working with the convicted s*x offender.
Angelina Jolie Did Not Want Brad Pitt to Work With Harvey Weinstein
The American actress sat down with The Guardian to talk about her book, Know Your Rights. Angelina Jolie shared that she worked with Harvey Weinstein when she was young. She shared that although she was able to avoid what could have been worse, it took her years to realize that she also had been a victim of Weinstein. The Eternals star said, “If you get yourself out of the room, you think he attempted but didn’t, right? The truth is that the attempt and the experience of the attempt is an assault.”
She also shared that she tried to warn people about him and even rejected to work on The Aviator because Weinstein was involved with the film. However, she was hurt when Brad Pitt decided to star in the 2009 film, Inglourious Basterds. “It was hard for me when Brad did,” she said. Harvey Weinstein was a producer of the film.
Jolie also shared that later in 2012, Pitt approached Weinstein to produce Killing Them Softly, which led to multiple arguments between the couple. “We fought about it. Of course, it hurt,” the Taking Lives star said. The actress shared that Weinstein’s involvement was the reason she avoided attending the promotional events of the film.
Brad Pitt Reportedly Never Teamed Up With Harvey Weinstein
Followed by Angelina Jolie’s claims, Weinstein released a statement via TMZ. The producer said that the Oscar-winning actress is using his name for the publicity of her new book and denied the allegations. “It is brazenly untrue and clickbait publicity,” he said in his statement.
Soon after sources close to Brad Pitt also claimed that the Bullet Train star never teamed up with Weinstein. The report also shared that the convicted s*x offender was only involved with the 2012 film, and his company happened to distribute the film.
