“It’s about 10, 11 hours”: Keanu Reeves Reveals One Thing That Was More Challenging Than Stunts in John Wick
Keanu Reeves, one of the most well-known actors in the business, not only dazzles the audience with his acting but also with the fact that he is thought of as one of the nicest people in the business. Over the years, famous people have admitted that the actor is the nicest person they have ever met.
The fourth entry in the John Wick franchise, which received overwhelmingly positive reviews from both the public and critics, is the actor’s most well-known film role. The Chad Stahelski-directed film has some of the most astounding stunts that shocked the audience, and Keanu Reeves has some opinions to share on the subject.
Keanu Reeves on being challenged with John Wick: Chapter 4
In an exclusive interview with Looper back in March, Keanu Reeves was asked about the reason that pushes him every day to perform better as the John Wick star on set, to which he said,
“Being able to do the whole thing. We filmed over 100 days, and we filmed mostly most nights. When we do an action sequence, it’s about 10, 11 hours, so it’s getting up and doing it again and doing it again and trying to realize the dream of the sequence. It’s recovery … but that’s the greatest challenge, to be able to hit that John Wick bar day after day.”
The actor further said that he finds it cool when he looks back and sees how far their franchise has come because they didn’t think that it would grow so much when they started out, adding that to have an opportunity to reprise roles, especially the ones that you love is a very special thing.
Reeves noted that for him to be John Wick: Chapter 4 is like Jack Traven from Speed in the Wayback Machine.
Keanu Reeves on coming back to John Wick world
The actor who has appeared in four John Wick movies was asked about what makes him say yes to John Wick movies and to the world of John Wick, to which he said that it’s simple that he loves playing that role. Keanu Reeves said,
“I love the world of John Wick. I love the opportunity and the storytelling. We really are inventing it, and I’m a part of that. It’s great to play in the sandbox of the John Wick world and to continue to explore and create.”
The movie received a positive response from the audience as well as the critics, and the fans of the movie cannot wait for the fifth installment. It has been said that John Wick: Chapter 4 has the most action of any other John Wick movie. The actor confessed in an interview with ComicBook that it was the hardest physical role he has ever done in his life so far, but noted that he was trained well.
Keanu Reeves noted that he spent three months training for the stunts featured in the fourth part and one of the most challenging ones was the acting stunt in which his character races around the historic Arc de Triomphe in Paris. He said in an interview with ComicBook,
“It’s been about 12 weeks of training. It’s new levels of action. You know, nun-chucks, which was challenging… John Wick’s action asks just a little bit more. And you see the effort and the commitment from the team.”
Chad Stahleksi gives an update on John Wick 5
John Wick franchise is one of the biggest franchises in the industry with the audience loving every bit of it especially because everyone involved in the movie is dedicated to doing their best and showcasing the best for the audience.
In an interview with Empire magazine, director Chad Stahelski was asked about the fifth part, to which he said,
“I honestly don’t know. Lionsgate is keen on doing more John Wick stuff, understandably. It’s not a bad thing for a director to have a property that they want to make more of. I don’t have a take right now. But I could wake up tomorrow and have a cool idea that I’d pitch to Keanu, or he would pitch to me, and it might hit that chord of, ‘Oh my God, we got to do this right now.’”
He further added that they have completed a circle and are pretty happy about it but who knows what the real director in him has to say? Chad said in the interview that it is very appealing thinking about the fifth movie but he just doesn’t have the ‘why’ yet, pointing out that out but that doesn’t mean they should stop looking for it. He lastly added he has scenes in his mind and if they come back, they cannot do what they have already done, so he has to do his homework and get back.
