Warner Bros. released the trailer for the upcoming Shazam film titled Shazam! Fury of the Gods at the Hall H presentation at Comic-Con International in San Diego. The trailer looks promising and introduces some of the children of the Gods, such as Hespera and Kalypso, who are the daughters of Atlas. The trailer is a mix of comedy and action, but it does throw a dig at Vin Diesel’s Fast and Furious.

In the trailer, Shazam, played by Zachary Levi, is shown talking to Hespera, played by Helen Mirren, wherein he makes a reference to the Fast and Furious films. The superhero says,

“Look, I might not have as much experience as you cause I am not super old like you, but I have seen all of the Fast and Furious movies lady. It’s all about FAMILY!”

However, his call for his family doesn’t work because none of them show up. This is a dig at the overuse of the word family in the Fast and Furious films.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is directed by David F. Sandberg and features Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan, Helen Mirren, and Lucy Liu and is set to release on December 21, 2022. Recently, the director talked about the film and stated,

“[It is] a much bigger movie than the first one. There’s so much stuff that I can’t wait for people to see. I hope they put a lot of it in the trailer. I don’t even care about spoilers, I’m just eager to show off our creatures, action, etc.”

Shazam’s sequel might be a bigger success than Shazam!

The film’s prequel, Shazam! came out in 2018 and smashed the box office by earning $366 million worldwide. The film received praise from both the fans as well as critics and continues to have a stellar rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. Hopefully, the second installment in the series will also gain success at the box office and leave the fans satisfied with the lighthearted superhero.
