Disney’s Snow White is one of the highly anticipated movies of 2025, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot. Marc Webb directs the live-action remake of Disney’s 1937 animated movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs from a screenplay by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.
Since the movie’s announcement, it has been surrounded by controversies, starting with the casting. Fans did not approve of Zegler, who is of Latin descent, as Snow White, who in the original material is described as having skin as white as snow. The movie has once again found itself in hot waters, having now entered the disgraced club of films.
Trailer for Disney’s Snow White starring Rachel Zegler reportedly hits over 1 million ‘dislikes’ on YouTube
According to reports by The Hollywood Handle and The SFF Gazette, the trailer for Disney’s upcoming Snow White, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, has received more than 1 million dislikes on YouTube. The trailer debuted at the D23 earlier this month, and it showcased Zegler as the titular character and Gadot as the Evil Queen.
At the D23 expo, Zegler shared her view on taking upon the role of one of the most beloved Disney princesses and said (via Variety),
It’s been the honor of a lifetime. I think any young person, any little girl, if you get to put on a Disney princess dress and be her for a day, let alone six months… It’s just been the most amazing experience, and I can’t wait to share it with you all.
Gadot also addressed the audience and said that it’s been a lot of fun for her to take on the role of the Evil Queen, which is very different than what she has done till now. She added that the Evil Queen is delicious, evil, and magical. Now, reports of the movie trailer receiving more than 1 million dislikes have got to mean something. A user shared,

A lot of fans have spoken about how Zegler’s look in the movie is not impressive at all when the whole premise of the plot was her beauty. Users have pointed out that Zegler’s look (especially the hair) does not go with how Snow White should appear. A user stated that no one should disrespect the animated version.
With the trailer reportedly receiving over 1 million dislikes with 8.4 million views, is now heading towards entering the disgraced film club, i.e., the most disliked movie trailer and teaser of all time. According to GQ India, Bollywood movie Sadak 2 holds the top spot with 13 million dislikes and just 737k likes.
Another Bollywood movie Khali Peeli sits in the second spot with 1.8 million dislikes, followed by 2016’s Ghostbusters with 1.1 million dislikes. It should be noted that the YouTube dislike API is no longer public. It was removed to avoid negativity online.
Rachel Zegler defends criticism of Snow White
Back in 2022, when the actress was on a press tour for West Side Story, she was asked about the criticism surrounding Disney’s Snow White. In her interview with Vanity Fair, she said at the time,
People are making these jokes about ours being the PC Snow White, where it’s like, yeah, it is—because it needed that. It’s an 85-year-old cartoon, and our version is a refreshing story about a young woman who has a function beyond ‘Someday My Prince Will Come’.
The actress also spoke to Variety at the 2022 D23 Expo about their version of Snow White compared to the original version. Zegler said that their version of Snow White is not going to be dreaming about true love; instead, she’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be and the one her father told her she could be. The actress mentioned that it’s going to be a great story for the young generation everywhere to see themselves in.
The actress appeared in Variety’s Actors on Actors with Halle Bailey and acknowledged that the movie has a lot of CGI. She said that there was a lot of puppetry and CGI in the post-production and it was intense.
Gadot also added that they worked with such an amazing crew, and she feels lucky to be a part of the team. However, it has been clear that fans are not happy with remakes anymore, especially with animated movies’ remakes for live-action.
Disney’s Snow White is scheduled for a 2025 release.
