‘It’s going to be inspiring artists for years to come’: After Box Office Disaster ‘Babylon’ Gets Multiple Oscar Nominations, Fans Hail Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie Movie As A Masterpiece
Damien Chazelle’s Babylon could not hit the mark at the box office when it came out. The drama/comedy features some known faces of Hollywood like Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Tobey Maguire, and Olivia Wilde. But the movie did not do well at the box office, making only about $28 million worldwide. The film was mainly criticized for its runtime of 3 hours and 9 minutes, graphic content, and direction.
The audience had mixed opinions about the film, but everyone praised Robbie for the part that she played in the movie. The movie didn’t get a nomination for Best Picture but managed to earn nominations for Best Original Score, Best Production Design, and Best Costume Design. The lack of acknowledgment of performances by Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie left the internet divided.
Babylon did not get nominated for Best Picture
The Oscar nominations were announced earlier today and fans of Damien Chazelle’s Babylon were disappointed. The film somehow did not get the Best Picture nomination and even Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie‘s work was left unacknowledged. The movie has received 7.6 out of 10 on IMDb and got 56% on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie, however, managed to earn nominations for Best Original Score, Best Production Design, and Best Costume Design.
The viewers had mixed opinions about the movie. The movie’s runtime of 3 hours and 9 minutes was criticized and many people described the film as having “outsized ambition and outrageous excess.” The movie was released on 23rd December 2022.
The internet had mixed opinions about the nominations
The fans of the movie were left devastated and pointed out that the movie will find its fans a few years down the line when it becomes mainstream. Some called it a masterpiece and said it will inspire artists in the future. On the other hand, some people said it’s just an exaggeration and the film was not up to the mark.
It’s so annoying how us BABYLON truthers have to wait for the rest of the world to catch up and realize that this movie was a masterpiece all along, but no matter what its fate at the Oscars is, it’s going to be inspiring artists for years to come and I just think that’s neat :’) https://t.co/EKrDZzzjM1

Saw it last night. Me and my mate both independently agreed we loved it. Surprised to see the low audience and critic scores. One of the sequences is the funniest scene ive seen in a movie in a while. I can tell it'll be very rewatchable. Definitely a re-evaluation coming

Many people predicted that the movie and the actors will get an Oscar nomination. Mainly Margot Robbie’s work was praised by critics all over the world.
Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie did not receive Oscar nominations for Babylon
People were disappointed to see that Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie’s work in the movie was not acknowledged as they did not receive nominations. The idea of the movie was quite interesting as it traces the rise and fall of a cast of characters during an era of decadence and depravity in 1920s Hollywood. The budget of the movie was roughly $78 million and it only managed to garner roughly $28 million at the box office. So it’s safe to say the movie underperformed. It was released in the United States on 23rd December 2022.
