Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, is one of the highly awaited movies 2025. Directed by Matt Shakman, the movie is going to follow the team of Fantastic Four in their 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic world and how they’d save the world from planet-devouring cosmic being Galactus.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had earlier expressed how excited they are to bring Marvel’s first family up to the sort of platform. The first trailer for the movie was recently released, and while the fans are excited to see what’s in store for them, they have also raised one concern when it comes to a live-action adaptation of a comic book.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps plans to be a big pillar of the Marvel Cinematic Universe
The first trailer for Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach was recently released. Ahead of the release of the movie, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige shared with EW that the upcoming movie is going to be a big pillar of the MCU, just the way they have been in the comics for 50-60 years. He said,
Filmmaker Matt Shakman at the San Diego Comic-Con last year mentioned that one of the things they decided early on while working on the project was not to do an origin story. He added that one of the ways they’re making it their own thing is by not telling the story of the Fantastic Four going up and being changed. He mentioned that there are a lot of well-known narratives that lead to that moment.
Vanessa Kirby, who plays Sue Storm in the movie, shared very briefly about her character while speaking to ET. She mentioned that she is thrilled to be a part of the team, and she feels honored to be playing Sue alongside Pascal, Quinn, and Moss-Bachrach.
On the other hand, Joseph Quinn, who plays the Human Torch in the movie, feels that he’s got big shoes to fill, as Chris Evans had previously played the character in 2005’s Fantastic Four.
In talking about the movie, Quinn noted (via EW),
Quinn mentioned that he loves the cast of the movie, and he thinks the script is brilliant. He noted that he was just delighted to have such a wonderful opportunity. Other cast members include John Malkovich, Julia Garner, and Ralph Ineson. Ardent fans are looking forward to the movie’s release.
Fans raise concern over Pedro Pascal’s character’s superpower in The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer
Where a section of fans and comic book readers are finally glad to see the trailer and are excited to see what’s to come, some fans have raised concerns over Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards showcase in the trailer. According to ScreenRant, Marvel may have used a trick to edit out Reed Richards’ stretching powers in the trailer.
The trailer showcases the ability of everyone else in Marvel’s First Family except Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards. Johnny Storm is shown flying through the city and into the atmosphere as the Human Torch. The Thing looks incredibly strong, and Sue Storm turns invisible and is also seen as creating force fields.
Reed Richards in the comics is the smartest man on Earth. He gains the ability to stretch and mold his model with incredible elasticity after the family is exposed to cosmic rays. One of the users wrote on their X account;
Another user chimed in to agree and mentioned, ‘If they nail it, it could be iconic. If they don’t, we all know things can get pretty messy’. Someone mentioned that they are hoping that at least the stretching effect should look like the live-action Luffy. A lot of users mentioned that maybe the studios need a little more time.
