British actor Henry Cavill is widely known for his portrayal of the superhero Superman in the DC Extended Universe from 2013 to 2022. In addition to this, he has also played the role of Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix fantasy series The Witcher. Unfortunately, he won’t be seen as either of these characters in the near future as he was dropped by James Gunn despite the director’s claims of bringing Cavill back as Superman.

Instead, Henry Cavill will be seen in a remake of 1980s fantasy action-adventure movie Highlander. This was confirmed in 2021 by Cavill himself by means of an Instagram post featuring a picture of the Deadline news about the remake. While much is still not known about it, recently John Wick director Chad Stahelski who will be directing the Highlander remake has given a much-anticipated update.

The Whatever Works actor is quite excited about working in the remake of Highlander. So much so, that he has begun his research on Scottish culture to better connect with the character he will be playing. He further expressed his excitement, saying:  “Deep diving into franchise storytelling with all the tools at our disposal, is going to make this an adventure I (and hopefully all of you) shall never forget.”

While speaking to Josh Horowitz on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Chad Stahelski said: “I think we have some very good elements now. The trick is when you have the tagline ‘there can only be one,’ you can’t just kill everybody the first time.” He has claimed that they are doing more of a prequel to the franchise.
