Directed by Denis Villeneuve, 2021’s epic science fiction movie Dune stars Timothée Chalamet, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac, and more. The movie is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Frank Herbert, published in 1965. The story follows Paul Atreides and his family as they are pushed into a war with the Arrakis.
The movie premiered at the 78th Venice International Film Festival and received a positive response. Upon its worldwide release, the positive response continued, and it grossed over $407 million on a budget of $165 million. Dune: Part Two was released in March 2024, and it was highly appreciated as well. Josh Brolin shared how his Dune co-star helped him land a movie role.
Josh Brolin reveals Jason Momoa ‘intensified’ his love for motorcycles
Popularly known for his portrayal of Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Josh Brolin played Gurney Halleck, who was not only the weapon master of House Atreides but also Paul Arteides’ mentor. Jason Momoa played Duncan Idaho, who was the sword-master and one of the mentors to Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Arteides.
Where Brolin reprised his character in Dune: Part Two, Momoa wasn’t a part of the sequel, but he was part of the conversation. Ahead of the release of Dune: Part Two, Josh Brolin spoke to Cinema Blend, where he was asked if he was able to bring his motorcycle to the shoot. To which he said,
No. But I have a friend, Mr. Momoa, who has motorcycles all over the world now. There was a movie I was looking at doing that I thought was going to be in New Zealand. He’s in New Zealand, and he was like, ‘I got three bikes over there’. And I was like, ‘Great, I’ll do the movie.’
Brolin and Momoa’s love for motorcycles is not hidden from anyone, as the latter has taken to social media to share his love for his motorcycles with his fans. The Marvel actor compared his love for motorcycles with actor Dennis Farina’s obsession with golf, who, according to him, only thought of golf courses when he was about to sign on a new project. The actor added,
So yeah, I have a little bit of a motorcycle obsession. I always have. It’s worse now. But no, it’s not going to deter me.
Josh Brolin didn’t explain which movie he was talking about, but now the fans know that if he has a motorcycle on set, he’ll be happy. And he can rely on Jason Momoa to arrange for him a motorcycle.
Josh Brolin’s ex-fiancé, Minnie Driver, says marrying him would have been a ‘big mistake’
Minnie Drive and Josh Brolin met on the sets of 2000’s Slow Burn and were engaged in 2001 before calling it off just five months later. The Good Will Hunting actress recently shared with The Times.
The one time I was engaged, would have been, I think, the biggest mistake of my life. If I look at my history, what it did was make me want to be married so much and then choose men who were not the right men to be married to. So I would carry on longing to be married and to have that conservative version of a relationship, find men who had no interest in that, and then if one did, run a mile.
This feeling stems from the fact that her parents, Gaynor and Charles, never got married due to her father’s infidelities, which influenced her views on her love life. The actress has been dating American writer and director Addison O’Dea since 2019 after they met at a party in Los Angeles. Talking about him, she said,
I am with someone who doesn’t want to get married but who is the most devoted, loving, and extraordinary. Everything I could have wanted in my childhood idea of a husband, he actually is.
Minnie Drive also dated Good Will Hunting co-star Matt Damon, but their romance ended very soon. Damon brought his new girlfriend to the 1998 Academy Awards. The actress shares a son with her ex, TV producer Timothy J. Lea.
Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two are streaming on HBO Max.
