Clothing brand H&M has come under fire after Justin Bieber called it out for selling various merch using his pictures and lyrics without prior permission. The Baby hitmaker took to Instagram recently to inform his fans about the issue and also urged them not to purchase the stuff by calling it “trash“. Bieber added he himself would never buy them.

Following this, fans chimed in to express their disappointment with the retail brand. And they asked the brand to remove the products from their collection. But this is not the first time the singer’s fame has been exploited by others. He dealt with a similar issue only last year when Bieber sued Brian Whiteley for using his name for profit.

A day ago on Monday, Justin Bieber called out clothing brand H&M via Instagram story. As it turns out, the brand was selling products featuring the singer’s face and even lines from his songs. And according to the Sorry singer, no permission was asked of him for using his face by the retail brand. He wrote,

“I didn’t aprove [sic] any of the merch collection that they put up at H&M .. all without my permission and approval,”

And he further asked his fans and followers to not buy the stuff by saying, “SMH I WOULDN’T” BUY IT IF I WERE YOU”. And only last year Bieber sued a man named Brian Whiteley who claimed he would put up an exhibition featuring the singer’s artwork. Whiteley used the terms “profound” and “erotic” to describe the artworks he was about to display. It was revealed that Whiteley was sued over “direct infringement of our client’s intellectual property rights.” Therefore, Bieber definitely would not be shoving it under the table this time also if he feels like it.

Following his Instagram story on Monday urging his fans to not purchase H&M’s Justin Bieber merch, fans (Beliebers) went for the brand by commenting under the brand’s Instagram posts. They even researched all the products that had Bieber on them or anything related to him. The products include sweatshirts, canvas tote bags, and even phone cases with the lyrics from his song Ghost on them. One fan commented under the brand’s latest post asking, “Why you selling Justin’s stuff w/o his knowledge… that’s sketchy,“. And  another wrote,

Using Justin’s face and brand without his permission? I hope you guys get sued by him and his team !”

A user also commented “Shame on you!”. A Twitter user posted pictures from H&M’s website,

But according to Page Six one of the brand’s reps stated that they had  “followed proper approval procedures”. As of now, no updates have come up and neither has Bieber taken any legal action against the brand yet.
