In Hollywood, Jackie Chan is a well-known figure. His six decades in the industry had contributed to his $400 million net worth. He is also known for being one of Hollywood’s most commercially successful actors. A strange twist, though is that Chan rejected not one, but four Sylvester Stallone films. We all know that Stallone is a major player in Hollywood, so why would Chan refuse such tempting offers? Let’s find out!

Why did Jackie Chan decline four Sylvester Stallone films?

Jackie Chan has had the chance to work together with several famous actors due to his long time in the film industry. The notable list of actors included  Owen Wilson, Pierce Brosnan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and more. However, he has yet to collaborate with certain popular action heroes. That includes names like Sylvester Stallone, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Dolph Lundgren. Chan has unexpectedly declined not one, but four offers to feature in Stallone’s movies. Now let’s explore the reasons why this dynamic pair has never happened.

Chan had the first chance to collaborate with Stallone on Demolition Man, but he turned it down. Chan’s image as a hero who utilizes martial arts for good does not fit with Stallone’s desire for him to play a villain. The second opportunity came when Chan was offered the part of a drug dealer in the fourth Rambo film. Chan once more felt it didn’t fit him well, maybe because it conflicted with his on-screen persona.

Chan was later wanted by Stallone for Expendables 2 and Expendables 3, but plans fell through. Conflicts with the schedule prevented Chan from filming the second installment, and Chan was worried about only having a minor part in the third. Therefore, despite the possibility of truly massive collaborations, the stars haven’t quite lined up for these two action movie icons to work together on a movie.

Jackie Chan hopes to collaborate on a film with Sylvester Stallone

Despite declining previous offers, Jackie Chan has made it clear that he is open to working with Sylvester Stallone. They were going to collaborate on the movie Hidden Strike, but owing to problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, John Cena ended up having to take Stallone’s place. The film was released on Netflix. Although there are currently no formal plans for a Chan-Stallone collaboration, it is obvious that Jackie Chan hopes to work on a film with Stallone. If they ever work together, it will probably be a dynamic duo that fights alongside each other. This is because the two of them are not known for playing villains.

Chan has stated that he would prefer to work on a project that is just the two of them than one that features several action heroes, as is the case with the Expendables franchise. There is still hope that Jackie Chan and Sylvester Stallone will team up in the future for an exciting action-packed adventure, even though we haven’t seen them on a film together yet.
