When Netflix announced the live-action adaptation of One Piece, fans were skeptical if the show would be able to do justice to the immense popularity of the anime. Fast forward to now, fans cannot wait for the second season to drop and take the story of the Straw Hat pirates forward. Created by Eiichiro Oda, the show follows a ragtag crew of pirates as they embark on a thrilling journey to find the hidden treasure.

What Will One Piece Season 2 Be About?

It didn’t come as a surprise that the greatest prankster on the One Piece show was born on the day of pranks and lies, April Fool’s Day. Usopp, the sniper pirate from the One Piece dream is played by Jacob Romero in the live-action adaptation. While his long nose may resemble that of Pinocchio’s, his lying and scheming ways prove it a poetic coincidence. He may not be the best fighter on the crew, but the way he weaves fictional tales out of thin air is commendable and entertaining for everyone.

Netflix released a video where Romero is seen answering questions from fans on the upcoming season of One Piece. The actor starts the video with a lie saying he’s in South Africa where the show is being shot, but as the camera pans, we can see the Hollywood sign in the distance. This establishes the tone of the video and urges viewers to take every answer with a grain of salt.

Jacob Romero Has Season 2 Spoilers | One Piece | Netflix

If Romero is to be believed, season 2 of One Piece will be very Usopp-centric with 50 episodes all focusing on his life and journey. He even makes an emphatic point that Usopp will be the captain of the ship in the next season with a changed flag and rules among the crew. Usopp fans are thrilled to know this, even against the April Fools’ Day backdrop. Romero answers all sorts of burning questions from Vivi’s casting to the use of CGI since animals are featured in the show.

He might be the comic relief on One Piece, but his answers make it seem like he will be the hero of the show soon enough. Usopp fans will have the time of their lives seeing him take center stage. Romero’s supposed spoilers are making waves on social media. At the same time, the video cautioned viewers with repeated text messages seen on screen from the One Piece crew, contradicting everything Romero is saying.

Usopp is Known for his Lies and Excuses

Being one of the not-so-strong pirates in the crew, Usopp chooses to hide and make excuses when his opponents seem to overpower him. Everyone is aware of his lies and how he makes imaginary stories to get out of tricky situations. Sometimes, his lies lead to something positive like Chopper and the dwarves of Dressrosa are inspired by his statements and find the courage within themselves.

One might believe Usopp to be smart enough to lie repeatedly and still get away with it, but this could not be further from the truth. Despite being a con man himself, he often falls for deceptive ways due to his innocent nature and gets tricked into tough spots. Usopp is well-known for some of his biggest lies including “Can’t-get-on-this-island disease” and the mythical crew that is after Usopp under the lie “I Have 8000 Hardened Killers Behind Me!”

Some of Usopp’s lies have come to be realized later on in the story. While this may not be true for all his lies, there is a possibility that some of the things that Usopp says manage to become reality due to a sudden turn of events. This could also be because his abundance of lies makes it harder for people to believe him without concrete proof. The most pertinent example is that of Tontatta Kingdom where dwarves reside. The crew believes it only when they visit the island by themselves.
