There were a lot of speculations about which actor could possibly play Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in the DCU. Previously, the character has been portrayed by Ryan Reynolds. The only good thing that came out of it was probably his friendship with co-star Blake Lively because they got married years later and became one of the ‘IT’ couples of Hollywood.

Kyle Chandler, Josh Brolin, Matthew McConaughey, and Ewan McGregor were among the contenders for the role. Recently, James Gunn confirmed that Chandler has come out at the top, through an Instagram post in which he welcomed the actor into the DC family. Fans love the decision and are quite excited to see Chandler as the character in the forthcoming HBO live-action series Lanterns.

A major superhero that is yet to be cast in DCU is Batman. According to an industry insider with the handle MyTimeToShineHello on X, the studio is looking to cast a middle-aged Batman. The insider has posted the pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal, Colin Farrell, and Josh Hartnett, asking fans which actor would be better suited for the role.

While some chose one of the above-mentioned actors, others had ideas of their own. The name that came up the most is Supernatural star Jensen Ackles.

Although all of these actors are great and have the potential to be Batman, there’ must be some ‘s good reason fans are rooting for Ackles. Well, CEO Gunn knows what to do now, and all we can do is light our candles and wait for the announcement.

Batman has been previously by some of the best actors including Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, and Ben Affleck. As of now, Robert Pattinson is playing the role in Matt Reeves’ adaptation of the character. Gunn and co-chairperson Peter Safran announced that a different version of the Caped Crusader will appear in The Brave and the Bold.

Back in 2023, while at the Jus In Bello Convention in Italy (via Deadline), Ackles expressed his interest in playing the role. He said: “I mean, could I do it? Sure. Would I want to do it? Yes.” However, he said that he has not had any discussions with the DCU bosses.

Would I entertain the idea of playing my favorite superhero of all time? Nah, I’m good. It seems like a lot of work, you know. You gotta put in a bat suit and be a superhero. I would love it. Sign me up.

Having first voiced the character in Batman: The Long Halloween, Ackles has now done it in several animated films in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies line. Whether he will get to do it in live action or not is yet to be seen.
