James Gunn, a renowned filmmaker and the man behind the development of major DC as well as Marvel movies is currently developing scripts for a new DC project, Superman: Legacy which will make its way to release in 2025.

As the movie is going through its pre-production, the Guardians of the Galaxy director made a viral post on Twitter sharing the potential to introduce the DC character, Emilia Harcourt for the upcoming Superman movie.

For the readers who aren’t aware! James Gunn’s wife, Jennifer Holland is portraying the DC character, Emilia Harcourt. The character was first introduced with the release of The Suicide Squad movie. After making the tweet, the writer/director faced a lot of backlash from the fans alleging him for supporting nepotism.

After James Gunn shared his plans to bring Holland to the upcoming Superman: Legacy movie, many fans shared their views about his decision. After his tweet went viral, many fans responded to the tweet claiming that the famous director/writer is in support of Nepotism, especially by looking at how he has been highly pitching his wife’s appearance in future coming DC movies.

The concept of Nepotism is not new in the industry, especially in the Hollywood universe where we usually see how influential and powerful stars, directors, and even producers take advantage of their positions to bring their favorite people to the movies.

Similarly, fans speculate that Gunn has been giving preference to his wife for all the upcoming DC movies. However, in response to all backlashes about nepotism the 56-year-old celebrity had to take back his decision to cast his wife for the upcoming Superman: Legacy movie.

All We Know About Superman: Legacy

For the people who aren’t aware! Superman: Legacy movie is among the upcoming DC movie which is also among the highly anticipated movies by fans. As of now, the movie is going through its production stages and it’s expected to make its way to theatres by July 2025 if there are no such production delays.

David Corenswet gets the spotlight for the movie as he will be cast as the new Superman after taking the role from the legendary, Henry Cavill.  Alongside David, we will also see Rachel Brosnahan join him in the supporting leading role as Lois Lane, the love interest and colleague of Superman.

Then we have Guy Gardner whose role will be portrayed by Nathan Fillion and we have Hawkgirl whose role will be played by Isabela Merced. The last two appearing casts are Edi Gathegi and Anthony Carrigan who will be portraying the roles of Mr. Terrific and Metamorpho respectively. As we said the DC movie is currently going through its scripting stages and we can expect the famous director/writer to come up with more hints about the movie shortly.
