Cameron Diaz is set to come out of retirement with Jamie Foxx starrer Back In Action
One of the most popular and beloved actresses, Cameron Diaz, is finally returning to the screen after eleven years with Netflix’s Back In Action. In the upcoming movie, Diaz stars alongside Jamie Foxx, Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott, McKenna Roberts, and more.
The aptly titled movie follows two retired CIA spies who find themselves dragged back into espionage when their cover is blown. Seth Gordon directs the movie from a script he co-wrote with Brendan O’Brien. Diaz is going to appear in movies after her appearance in 2014’s Annie, in which she appeared with Foxx.
Ahead of the release of the film, Diaz shared with Netflix about Back In Action,
Cameron Diaz’s return to acting was met with a lot of cheers and appreciation for the actress, who had shared in an interview with Empire that she solely returned to work with Jamie Foxx. She said if she was going back to do a movie, the only person she’d come back and do it with would be Jamie Foxx. She explained,
Talking about what the future holds for her, Diaz noted that she does not know how she looks at it, adding that she does not want to say or define anything. The actress added that she is open to whatever makes sense for her and her family.
But it has been reported that Diaz is going to reprise her role as Princess Fiona for Shrek 5 and is also going to appear opposite Keanu Reeves in Apple Original Film Outcome.
Cameron Diaz opened up about taking a step back from acting
The actress, who shares two kids with her husband Benji Madden, decided to focus on her family and took a step back from acting and shifted her focus to launch her businesses, including wine Avaline. At the Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit, Diaz shared the reason for her retirement. (via Variety)
Diaz mentioned that nobody’s success, no one’s offer, no one’s anything could change her mind at the time when she decided that she needed to take a step back from her acting career to focus on herself. She noted that it really comes down to, ‘What are you passionate about?’ And for her, it was to build her family.
Now, here fans are excited to finally watch her on-screen doing action, and it’s also going to be Jamie Foxx’s first release after he suffered a serious stroke in 2024. Sadly, due to the devastating fire in Los Angeles, the premiere for Back In Action has been canceled.
Netflix shared a statement that read that a lot of our loved ones and artists are currently affected by the fires and our thoughts are with them. They added that due to such a heartbreaking situation, they have decided to cancel the New York premiere of the movie. (via Variety)
