Jason Momoa Reveals the Only Possible Way He’ll Return as Aquaman Despite Amber Heard Fiasco: “There’s a Possibility”
Jason Momoa is set to star in the sequel to Aquaman, which will be released on December 22. The film will continue the story with Aquaman becoming a father and embracing the caretaker role to protect the world from Black Manta. It is reported that he will be seen teaming up with his brother King Orm and fighting the villain together.
The first installment of the franchise was released back in 2018 and was widely loved by the fans. However, it looks like we won’t see Jason Momoa return for a potential third movie in the franchise.
Jason Momoa will return as Aquaman only if fans love the movie
A lot has been said about Aquaman 2 ahead of its release. While fans are highly anticipating the release of the film, they also hope to see Jason Momoa continue playing the role for a long time. However, this might be the final time that we see Momoa play the role of the aquatic superhero.
As revealed by Jason Momoa during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the chances of a potential Aquaman 3 being made are very slim at the moment. For those unaware, DC is undergoing a complete reboot, and as things stand, Aquaman does not seem to be a part of their future projects.
While speaking about the same during the interview, Jason Momoa claimed that he will return as Aquaman only if the fans love it. He said:
“The truth of it is, I mean, if the audience loves it, then there’s a possibility, but right now, I’m like, ‘It’s not looking too good.’ I love this character and [I would want to] play it for a long time. I kind of see where I would want it to go. And even in the next 10 years or so, like there’s a lot of cool things they can do. And I do enjoy the role and the world. So, I mean, it just comes down to if people love it.”

Aquaman 2 is being considered as Warner Bros. Discovery’s last hope
A lot is riding on Aquaman 2 for the makers of the film. The Warner Bros. Discovery has had a tumultuous time in the industry and has bled a lot of money. Moreover, the company is currently riding a 60% chance of going bankrupt and struggling financially like never before. However, James Wan‘s movie is expected to perform well at the global box office, which will help the media company.
That said, it remains to be seen if Aquaman 2 can save the company from dying but even if they end up going bankrupt, the company will likely not end and it would rather result in a financial reorganization.
