Jennifer Lawrence Calls Working with Leonardo Dicaprio and Timothée Chalamet in $762K Movie “absolute misery”
Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood. For her portrayal of a young troubled widow Tiffany Maxwell alongside Bradley Cooper in David O. Russell’s 2012 movie Silver Linings Playbook, she was awarded the Oscar for Best Actress. This made her the second-youngest actress to do so. Earlier in the same year, she had also become the highest-grossing action heroine.
Jennifer Lawrence has had the opportunity to work with some of the best actors in the entertainment industry. From The Dark Knight star Christian Bale to The Guardians of The Galaxy‘s Chris Pratt, JLaw has worked with numerous A-listers over the years. Following her 2-year hiatus from acting, she made a comeback with a lead role in Adam McKay’s dark apocalyptic political comedy Don’t Look Up which also featured Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, and many others.
Jennifer Lawrence Had A Hard Day While Working On Don’t Look Up
During her appearance in an episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jennifer Lawrence revealed that she had a hard day on the set while working on Don’t Look Up with Leonardo DiCaprio who played the role of her astronomy professor, and Timothee Chalamet who played the role of a shoplifter whom Kate befriends.
The Hunger Games star told The Late Show‘s host Stephen Colbert:
“Timothée was just excited to be like out of the house [after lockdown]. I think it was, like, his first scene. And Leo had picked the song that was playing in the car and was just, like, ‘You know, this song was about, you know, blah, blah, blah.’ I just remember being in absolute misery that day. It was hell.”
Colbert praised Jennifer Lawrence’s impersonation of Leonardo DiCaprio. At the end of the interview, the actress was gifted a little T-shirt (for the baby she was going to give birth to in a couple of months) with the show’s name printed on it to which she hilariously reacted by saying that she wouldn’t fit in that.
Jennifer Lawrence’s Don’t Look Up Was Received Well
Jennifer Lawrence took a much-needed break from acting following the release of some movies that did not do too well at the box office. During this time, she got married to her boyfriend Cooke Maroney. She gave birth to their son Cy in February 2022. In the 2021 movie Don’t Look Up, she played the role of a doctoral candidate in astronomy Kate Dibiasky.
The movie follows two astronomers (Kate and her professor) who try to warn the world about a comet that is approaching Earth at great speed and will most possibly, destroy human civilization. It is a satire of the indifference the government, politicians, celebrities, and media show toward climate change.
Although the film was nominated for four Academy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, and many other accolades, it received mixed reviews from critics. However, climate scientists reacted positively to it as they believed that Adam McKay had successfully conveyed the message about the inattention to climate change.
