Jennifer Lawrence Regrets not Taking Adele’s Advice Over her Role in the Sci-fi Film ‘Passengers’
Although Jennifer Lawrence has had a pretty monumental career so far which included an Oscar, it was also sprinkled with bad decisions here and there. It wasn’t smooth sailing all in all, and the actress has had her fair share of regrets besides starring in blockbusters and wishes she could go back in time to fix all the mistakes. Alas! Regret is the only course of action now.
Adele, the phenomenal singer came in to rescue Lawrence as a guardian angel but failed to do so, as the actress ignored her advice and went on with her instincts. She greatly laments her decision now and regrets ignoring ‘The Adele’.
Jennifer Lawrence regrets not listening to Adele
Passengers was a movie in recent times that Jennifer Lawrence failed to judge before jumping on board. Although she realized it, it was way too late. But as soon as she did, she realized what a genius her friend Adele is. It is no secret that both women who are highly regarded in their respective fields of work have been friends for quite some time now. And therefore, like a true friend, Adele tried to warn her before she accepted the job. But Lawrence went on to do the picture anyway which was a massive bomb on the box office. While talking about the moment of realization she said,
“I was like, ‘Oh no, you guys are here because I’m here, and I’m here because you’re here. Wait, who decided that this was a good movie?’”
She then expressed her regret for not listing to her dear friend,
“Adele told me not to do it. She was like, ‘I feel like space movies are the new vampire movies.’ I should have listened to her,”
The actress then further continued saying,
“Everything was like a rebound effect. I was reacting, rather than just acting.–I felt like more of a celebrity than an actor, cut off from my creativity, my imagination”
All in all, although she regrets the decision still, the incident made her realize Adele was a true friend.
Jennifer Lawrence’s career regrets
Jennifer Lawrence not only jumped on the wrong ship but also let a perfectly fine ship get away. Before approaching Amy Poehler, the Inside Out crew offered the role to none other than the Hunger Games actress, but she passed on the offer which now she regrets doing. In an interview with MTV News, Lawrence admitted that she regretted passing on the opportunity, saying,
“I would have loved to be a part of it. That was a really bad decision on my part.”
She also regrets missing out on Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland to Mia Wasikowska. While speaking about it on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show. She said,
“But the one thing that killed me, like the only time I’ve ever been truly devastated by losing an audition — ’cause most of the time you’re like, ‘Ah, wasn’t meant to be, move on, what can you do?’ — was Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.”
It was all very overwhelming for her, the back-to-back negative reviews on her movies led her to go on a break for a bit. The fame and success she experienced made her lose her sense of individuality. She marked her comeback with movies like Don’t Look Up and Causeway last year.
